Session 8: ScaryBlack & Fuckin' Kontos Report

Our story picks up with the Party on a missing from Elcas to find out who was stealing from the banks owned by the Circle of Tulisija. The Party is at the Triangle building on Dix Street, where they have detained Purple, a half-orc, on the stairs in the entryway.

Purple gets dragged down the steps and plopped in a chair, Rothgar asking her questions about the gold missing from the bank, but she refuses to answer any questions. Purple does claim to be the last one alive in the building, and as far as they can see she is telling the truth. Rothgar, continuing his interrogation, tells Purple that she needs to tell them what she knows, that it's her only option. Purple claims not to have any gold, and that there was no gold in the bag upstairs in the safe. Purple then made a bid for her freedom, asking, "If I tell you what's in the bag, will you take it and go?" The Party looks at each other, debating, and reply that it depends on what's in the bag. Purple was advised that she cooperate or get fucked up, it's her choice. She decided drinking a drink would be the best option.   Purple claimed that the contents of the bag are still in the bag upstairs, and the Party follows her up the steps towards the safe room. As they go up the steps, the Party can see a balcony and an opening that looks down on the room they were just in, much like being in a loft. Rothgar peeks around the corner, pushing Purple in front of him. There's a long hallway with a door on both sides about halfway down the hall, and a set of large double doors at the end of the hallway. The safe is at the end of the hall, Rothgar leads the way and Andry brings up the rear as security. Vadania follows behind Rothgar and Purple, landing at the opposite doors in the middle of the hallway. They see a glimmer of flames a few feet above the door, and even though Purple claims that there are no booby traps, Rothgar pushes her in front of him. As soon as they hit the edge of the shimmery area, he hears a "pop" and feels a change in pressure. The shimmering fills up the area, getting darker, gathering shadows as it starts to flow into the center, where it erupts upwards right in front of the Party and Purple. The air seems to rip open and a clawed, shadowy hand reaches out, ripping it the rest of the way open. An entirely black, bipedal creature steps out and screeches.   The creature frightens Vadania, but Rothgar, secure in his bravery, is not scared. Purple tries to back away, but Rothgar shoves her towards it, Purple falling to the ground at the black creature's feet. Vadania attempts to attack the black creature, henceforth known as ScaryBlack, with Eldritch's Blast but just misses. However, her attempt to injure ScaryBlack rid Vadania of her frightened state.   ScaryBlack notices Purple, but decides to advance on Rothgar. Its claws turn into shadowy blades, and it slashes at Rothgar, who took a slash to the face and is bleeding. Andry closes in on ScaryBlack, moving ahead of Vadania. Rothgar, angry that he was injured, yells, "That fucking hurt!" and rages. He puts his seax away and pulls out his greataxe, trying to slash ScaryBlack with a reckless attack. It hits ScaryBlack straight through the crotch, gashing it open, causing ichor to pour out of the wound. Purple stands up, looking at ScaryBlack, stepping behind it and chilling, leaving it to bleed in front of her. Vadania takes the chance and casts Eldritch's Blast again at ScaryBlack, but barely misses his head. ScaryBlack is angry at being attacked, and goes after Vadania. Thanks to her elven quickness, she is able to avoid the attack. Andry casts Wrathful Smite and stabs ScaryBlack with a spear. A lightning charge goes out of the spear into ScaryBlack, arcing back and forth across the gash. Rothgar moves behind ScaryBlack and hits him with his greataxe between the shoulder blades, ichor pouring out onto Rothgar's axe blade, which Rothgar rips out of ScaryBlack with a gross Troluck growl.   Purple begins to whisper in a guttural language and from beneath ScaryBlack's feet, tendrils emerge, trying to wrap around the Party's legs. Vadania and Andry become restrained up to their thighs, but Rothgar was able to rip his legs free. Flapping her wings dramatically, Vadania is also able to free herself. ScaryBlack flails around, attempting to attack Rothgar, but fails miserably, looking like a giant t-rex. Andry uses her kusari whip to try to attack ScaryBlack, but misses just barely. Rothgar tries to attack Purple with the butt end of his axe with a backward thrust. She takes the thrust straight to the gut and ends up on her knees. The tendrils retreat as her incantations are interrupted. Purple then casts Misty Step, disappearing into a cloud of mist, and appearing behind the Party. She then casts Toll of the Dead at Vadania, who is hurt really badly. Vadania tries to cast Eldritch's Blast at Purple in retaliation, but it shoots through her mist.   ScaryBlack then slashes at Rothgar, hitting him across the chest. Andry casts Lay on Hands on Vadania, "hemena hemena ZOINK" - giving Vadania 5HP back. Rothgar slashes ScaryBlack across the chest in an X, and ScaryBlack collapses into an ichor-filled pool of gore and shadowy goop. Purple casts Gust of Wind down the hallway in the direction of the Party. Andry ducks under the blast of wind like a little turtle, but Vadania and Rothgar are pushed back 15 feet. Rothgar is slammed into the wall, and Vadania slams into him. Vadania then casts Eldtrich's Blast at Purple, finally hitting her. The blast all but bitch slaps her down the stairs and slams her into the landing. Rothgar picks Purple up, dragging her back up the stairs and wrapping her like a yarn ball in rope.   *INTERLUDE SHORT REST TO HEAL*   Rothgar does a medicine check to assess the stab wound, but she is stable, and attuned to his cloak, upping his AC to 15.   Purple wakes up, caterpillar wriggling around, Rothgar sassing her as she scoots herself over to the wall, eyeballing Andry. Vadania goes into the room on the left, which is just a basic bedroom, noting that she likes the decorative pillows. Rothgar goes into the room at the end of the hallway, Purple's supposed chambers. It's a huge room, with a small safe in the corner. He asks Vadania to pat down Purple to look for a key, so both Vadania and Andry pat her down, finding nothing. Purple keeps grunting, and Rothgar moves the rope out of her mouth, after which Purple says, "it's not locked, you idiots!"   Rothgar opens the safe, which is indeed unlocked, and finds a satchel, rolled up parchment, and a glasses case, as well as a small wooden box with simple decorative latch system on the front. Inside the satchel, there are 3 diamonds. Rothgar opens the letter, which reads:
