Session 4: A new mission

General Summary

The party finds themselves in front of an enormous door that leads to the inner sanctum of Grimhammer. Pebblebeard opened it and inside they found a gargantuan green dragon chained up in rune filled chains. It was Niarvenax, the former ruler of Grimhammer. Here she suffered her penance set by the dwarves who overthrew her. She started to telepathically communicate with the party and ask for their aid. Vexna brought this to Pebblebeards attention and he urged them not to trust her. Yujin, however, was convinced by the dragon and wanted to help her. Pebblebeard agreed that she should not be ignored but instead asked the party to find the final rune held by the dwarves' descendants, which would end her life.   The party decided to hold gather representatives from the dwarves and the followers that Niarvenax asked them to find. On Pebblebeard's suggestion, they also decided that the meeting should be held at the treants moot in the southwestern part of the forest. With this mission at hand, the party left for Honeyport to try and find some clue on where they would find the dwarven descendants of Grimhammer. All except Varinel who wanted to spend some more time exploring the history of Grimhammer before he left, and Talien who decided to stay with Varinel for his safety.   After a whole days travel, the party returned to the Duststone farm, where they spent the night. They left early the next morning and after half a days travel they caught up to a couple named Thomas and Linda. The couple asked if they wanted to accompany them and ride on their wagon in exchange for protection. Thomas was merely a wagon maker  and Linda was heavily pregnant. The party agreed.   When night fell the party made camp by the road and took turns having watch. During Yujin's turn he managed to spot some figures moving in the forest. He instantly called out, as he always does; "Friend or foe?!" He didn't get an answer and when the rest of the party woke up the figures vanished.   The following day they encountered what they persume to be the same figures they had seen the night before. Two orcs attempting to trick them and rob them of their valuables. But the party sees through their lies and confronts them. When they realize they have been found out the orcs relent and afraid of the explosions made by Thylius they let the party pass.   The party finally reaches Honeyport. When they do, the town is in the middle of a trial. A young girl named Jenny is accused of helping her mother in the practice of witchcraft. Her mother was hanged the day before. After much debating and voting Vexna steps up on the gallow and holds a speech that convinces the town to let her go. Since she is now an orphan which is despised and mistrusted by the village Vexna takes into her custody.   The party moves into the inn. There they meet a local halfling named Wilfrick who tells the party a bit about Honeyport and Scaelor as a whole. After Vexna and the child has gone to bed, Thylius, Francis and Yujin along with Wilfrick have a roasting competition. Yujin, who is very drunk, surprisingly manages to win and is rewarded with the 20 gold prize pool. He then passes out. The rest goes to bed shortly after.   When morning comes the party gathers downstairs to eat breakfast. Thylius finds Yujin passed out at the table and prepares an alchemical concotion to cure his hangover which it successfully does. The party then visits the town smith, a dwarf named Balder to see if they can find any information regarding the Grimhammer dwarves. The smith tells them about the Ducan family who lives in the capital and is said to have possession of the final rune.   Francis who is preparing to leave Scaelor as soon as he can visits the docks of Honeyport. There he finds a Zimean military transport preparing to leave. After saying goodbye to his companions he boarded the ship and made his way back to Zimea.
