Session 6: Rumblings in the Deep
General Summary
The rumblings seem faint, so the party set about gathering a few more books and items to get onto the submersibles. Mara begins taking over what they already have and the others, make a last scout into the large records office. Piper finds a note tucked under a table leg, written in Dwarven. Amethyst translates: Tell the Brothers, the risings are not natural. Amethyst finds the log she was looking for, and discovers that the Slavesh trader left for a place known as Faerun's Grace. Pippin begins to get a very uneasy feeling, and a flash of the previous nights inky darkness crosses her thoughts. Mara feels a deep panic well up within her, almost beyond her control and makes a dash for the nearest submersible. The party realises the vibrations are getting stronger. They all make for the submersibles, and make a quick exit. Piper chooses to swim alongside the subs. Some of those looking back see a disturbance in the water wash out from the Tower, and everyone has an uneasy feeling in the pits of their stomachs. They get back aboard safely, and the Captain sets sail immediately. The party discuss their discoveries, and try to locate where Fairuns's Grace may be. They discover it was a large town four hundred years ago, before the last rising it still existed, though much diminished now, on a rugged Peninsula. It is unknown what state it is in now. At least by anyone aboard the ship. It is a week long trip by sea, and the Captain states that they really should return to Cliffport and report back to the Institute. The party agree, some reluctantly. The rest of the journey passes without further incident. Mara meditates for a while and discovers that her earlier fear seemed to stem from something within her. Something that was still afraid. The party make copies of some of the maps they found as well as some of the stuff in the journals.
