The Rescue of Cantatus Report

General Summary

After finding out that Cantaus was sold to the Lizardmen to be used in a sacrifice, the party went to their new ally Wentworth, and asked if he could assist them in getting to Smoke Island. The Trader lent them the services of one of his ships, which took them to the island and waited off shore for their return.
The party, wanting to approach without being noticed, stayed off the trail and headed to the camp through the forest. On the way there they fell into a hunter's trap. They were able to get out, but the damage had been done, and the Lizardfolk were alerted. They encountered them shortly after, and and agreed to go with them to their village, giving up their weapons.
  At the village, they encounter the "acting" chief, Xihe-ca. He explained that he didn't really want to sacrifice a human, but his father, the true chief was very sick and the Lava Children, a race that lived in the volcano, said that a sacrifice to their Volcano God would save the chief. Xihe-ca was skeptical, but had no other options, as they have not been able to help the chief. The party offered him a deal, if they could help his father, then the Lizardfolk would let cantatus go.  They agreed.
  David checked the Chief and found he had a wasting disease that was resistant to magical cures. David knew the cure, but needed special ingredients. When they spoke the the shaman, he was aware of the cure, but said they could not get the ingredients for the cure. One had already been all harvested, another was deep in a quicksand filled swamp, and the last grew in an area a hydra had made its lair.
  As the party made plans to gather the ingredients, they were approached by a scrawny Lizardfolk named Chaduzu. He claimed to be a scout, familiar with the swamp where Forfa plants grow, and could lead the party to them. But he needed a favor first. He needed to dishonor the Prime Warrior, Quon-Gulett so Rindic, a lizardfolk female would leave him. The party decided to help, and challenged Quon-gulett to a hunt. They and Quon's hunting team both set off to hunt a giant lizard. The party found the lizard but also encounted Quon's group trying to get the lizard as well. The party managed to trap it in a magical pit, and the lizardfolk gave in. They returned, where Quon-gulett was dishonored and lost his first choice of females. This allowed Chuduzu to try to win her heart, and with the help of a Poem written by Carados, he was able to lure her to be his mate. He then brought the players to the swamp safely and they gather the Forfa Plant, the first of the ingredients needed.

Rewards Granted

The players gained the Forfa Plant, an ingredient needed to cure the wasting sickness the Lizardfolk Chief is suffering from.
