Session 7 & 8: Blackthorne's Manor, and a trip to a necropolis Report

General Summary

The party visited a book seller in Drac's End to see if any of the books Aldrin are looking for were there. It tuned out that Aldrin was not the only one looking for the books. Another person came in a few days earlier with the same list. He was described as wearing a heavy black hooded robe and a half silver mask that covered the left side of his face. Behind the mask the skin looked burned.

The shopkeeper told him the same thing he told Aldrin. He had one of the books, but someone had already bought it. He gave aldrin the name of the buyer and the group went to see if they could talk to him but found the man's house had recently burned down. There were rumors going around that a black robed man visited the buyer the same day of the fire.

Aldrin also asked the Temple of Gilidan to look into the books,
While the temple was looking into that, the party found that the Raucous Caucus was playing a show at Blackthorne's manor. Callum arranged to get the party invitations so that way Gray could talk to Cipien the Bard. Meanwhile they could sneak around and find the crow from Loxi that Blackthorne owns and steal the crystal, hoping to use it to decode the location of one of Loxim's Laboratories.
The party infiltrated the manor and while Aldrin chatted up Blackthorne, the rest of the group snuck into his workshop to find the crow. They tripped the workshop defenses though and were attacked by several mechanical goblins, exactly like Newt, but much more violent. They managed to destroy them, and grab the crystal from the crow, and also a large mechanical device that Billie had seen a drawing of in Max's Notes.
Aldrin meanwhile got the name of the Inn that Cipien is staying in and the party left before their theft was discovered. Back at Max's lab it turned out the device was the power core of Myroc, a living construct that was once a companion of Max's other Nephew. When it was replaced, Myroc was reactivated but missing almost all of his memories. He joined the party hoping they would help him discover where he came from and if there are more like him.
The party went to talk to Cipien, and found that he had run off and left them a note saying that he didn't have the piece of the circle fo fifths any longer and he just wanted to be left alone and have nothing to do with that crazy group. After some diggin the party found that he left on the The Keith which was heading to Devil's Keep. They also found a flyer for the Griffon Theater in Devils Keep.
After some rest the party decided to headfirst to Rookwood, the cemetery that the Midwynter family crypt is in as Auriela thinks her families' Grimoire is there. Then they would head to the Druid Lorielie.
On the way there they stopped to see an old carving that had been on the island since before the founding of Freeport. That of a giant head.

To their surprise the head actually talked to them, claiming to be the god of elemental stone, and asking the player for help in finding his missing hand. They would be rewarded with a boon; it they could find the hand. They decided to help and went searching the swamp for it. The trail led them to several dangers though, including hallucinogenic spores, quicksand, and a group of hungry Crocodiles. They did manage to find the hand, only to find it was an illusion and the whole thing an elaborate prank by a Draxie named Snaggletooth.
Since the party had been a good sport, he rewarded them with the location of a magical circlet which allowed the wearer to understand any language. The party left and headed back to the road to Rookwood.
