Session 19: Party Meets Molaesmyr Portal Report

General Summary

After clearing out the library from the Zehir cultists, the Party found some specifications and a 10ft diameter mirror that was, what appeared to be, a test portal.   While the majority of the party did their research, Atreena went up on the roof to do some long range scouting, noting some landmarks, like a keep to the east. But no signs of any activity other than wildlife.   The group made their way down the main road (named The Long Root), passed a government administration building and found a large grass field surrounded by trees and the glowing red circle of the portal.   The Party made their way slowly, through the trees, noting at one point some floating orbs with tentacles float by.   Once they made their way to the portal, they found that the stones used to open the portal were missing, and instead green magical energy flowed form each gem socket to opposing sides of the mirror; one side with swirling red energy, the other side swirling black and green energy. They assumed that one side was to the Feywild and the other was to the Shadowfell.   After some test shots with arrows, and a chalk mark X in front of each portal, they entered the red side.   They found themselves in a similar place when they originally planted the Quarlani Sol, everything a shade of red and buffeting winds. In the distance to the north, between the wooden spires and sickly, but lively, trees, they saw a hole in the red of all color.   They moved north as quickly as possible (to avoid losing time in the material plane) and were attacked by vines from the nearby foliage. The vines got a hold of Eglantina and Brother Les and started pulling them into the tree line. Atreena saved Eglantina with her dagger and Pooka severed the vine on Brother Les.   They got up and moved quicker.   THey reached a large forested park in the middle of the city and noted the colors were somewhere in there. They moved into the forest and came upon a grove full of swarms of pixies, humanoid plants covered in thorns and 3 trees: 2 of which resembled the blighted tree they fought when they planted the Quarlani Sol and the third a dead one but with a large emerald embedded near the top of the tree throwing all sorts of color out from it.   Brother Les approached the fey creatures and attempted to discuss with them about the problems between the two planes. This really upset the pixies who were offended that Brother Les seemed to be insinuating that the pixies were causing teh problem. They attacked.   The Party had their hands full as the thorn creatures were throwing needles at them from afar while the pixies closed in to pummel the Party with their tiny fists, while also attempting to put them asleep or polymorph them into sheep. Pooka unfortunately did get sheepified (as well as his echo) for a round or two, raging on the grass. Brother Les finally dispelled that magic and Pooka returned to his normal raging self.   Atreena ran between creatures, stabbing here and there where weakness showed in the enemy. Zanthros broke out his lightning bolt and fireball to wonderful incinerating effect. Brother Les broke out his spirit guardians (tiny pixies with his own face) and had them do his battle for him while he took a defensive stances. Eglantina kept her distance and took out many pixies with her patrons help. And Pooka and his echo cut down many thorn creatures.   Then the ancient blighted trees moved in. And they beat on the Party with their massive branches while their roots snaked up and restrained the party from moving. In the end, Brother Les's radiating sun of Pelor and his pixie army destroyed both ancient blights and the field went quiet.   Pooka rushed to use his tools to carve out the stone from the tree and the party made their way back to the portal.   Before they left the feywild, Eglantina received a visit from her patron, Xalicas, warning her of the intentions of Zehir, in a still moment that only she was capable of knowing.   They made their way back to the material plane and once the stone passed through, the red side of the portal closed.   What will the Party do next? Will they enter the black side? What dark and terrible fate awaits them there as they willingly enter, what they assume is the Shadowfell?
