5/22- Tensions in Rakmark Report
General Summary
Our session started out at Lord Holcomb's Estate after chaos and a literal fire broke out. There were guests at the party who began murdering nobles and burning down parts of the property. Bryseis, Marcus, and Dia were soon engaged in combat with another mysterious assassin in black. Meanwhile, Tenebris, Hands, and Bird quickly eliminated a couple dressed in red. They were in possession of the Rockjaw map, a letter from a mysterious benefactor called "HN", and the both bore the same strange moth tattoo on their wrist. The battle with the assassin soon turned dire when Bryseis was knocked unconscious by a poisoned sword strike. Thankfully, Dia's brother Hourig intervened, killing the assassin and providing our heroes with a moment to escape. Back at Deb's the group examined the map and quickly determined that Rockjaw Prison Camp was not a tunneling project, but an excavation of a ancient underground city. Deb- after getting super drunk on Sweet Whiskey and sharing A LOT about her personal life including her previous relationship with Captain Dawson and her former gang The Chiselsmiths- presented the group with four options for investigating Rockjaw: 1. They could get arrested, and once inside Deb's contact- a prison guard named Arjune- might be able to help them infiltrate deep areas prison. 2. They travel through an abandoned mine who's shaft ran adjacent to Rockjaw's tunnel. Upon finding a section where the wall divding the Old Mine and Rockjaw was thinnest, they could plant explosives and blow a access hole. 3. They could investigate The Infirmary of the Stained. More folks have been disappearing from the surrounding area and the hospital itself remains closed to visitors. Deb believes it is somehow connected to the prison. 4. Deb has also confirmed that within the past couple of days- large covered wagons have been leaving the castle ground and traveling to Rockjaw. Perhaps they could sneak aboard one. While going over the plan and drinking lots of booze- the group received two letters as the mail arrived. One was a letter from their friend Ramuk, asking them to check in on his mother who is currently in the city. The second letter was an invitation from Heska Newamble, an ambassador for the Empire of New Oster. She wished to meet with Dia and Tenebris that afternoon. Our group got a long rest and made preperations for their various meetings that evening. Dia and Tenebris meet with the Ambassador who seemed to have information about Dia's lost brothers, however she wanted to know more about what Crod, Deb, and the fire genasi are up to. Dia was reluctant to share much information, but she did provide some. However, before the Ambassador could share more with the pair, she was quickly escorted from the city as it was declared that the Empire was responsible for the attack on Lord Holcomb's estate. She did tell Dia that she should check in the South for this lost brother of hers. Dia also took sometime to meet with her brother, Hourig who told her that their father is growing impatient with Crod and his religious fantaicism. The goal of the fire realm is to use Tuath the help find the stones, then to take over the city once they have what they want. Hourig also told Dia that her father would like to speak with her and that she should return in 24 hours to do so by means of magical communication. That evening, the group rejoined each other and set out to meet Brenna- the star-crossed Juilet of our love story- to come up with a plan to help she and Bjorn (Romeo) escape. Brenna told the group that she needed money and transportation. She could not obtain either because it would get back to her family. The group told her that they would meet again in two days and that they would have a plan. Upon returning to Deb's the team found her underground club being raided by the city guards, including some fire genasi soldiers. Bird and Hands were able to sneak inside to collect their things and to steal a few items in the process. One of the prisoners, Emiko, told Bird that they were being taken to the castle dungeons.
