5/29 Then Everything Changed When the Fire Nation Attacked Report

General Summary

The last days of 1589 are bleak and full of hopelessness in Tuath. Rather than celebrating the arrival of the new year, most folk are fending off deadly snakes, dodging the gangs, putting their smoldering business and houses, and trying to not another statistic in the string of mysterious disappearance plaguing the city.    After seeing their only contact in the city, Deb Ironthumb, hauled away by the city guard, the group immediately sprang into action to discover and put an end to all the strangeness in Tuath.    At the request of their former companion, Ramuk, the gang (minus Dia) headed over to Skagton and the Sato Estate to check in on his mother. Ramuk's mother, Jurda. She was in the process of preparing for battle and told the gang of a tale she was told as a child by the elder elves on The Beak. These elder elves told her of an evil servant of Ozzu called The Kurga. It was believed that Kurga was once a noble of Tuath, but she lusted for power so that she prayed that Ozzu would her as powerful as he. Ozzu blessed her with powers, but rather than allow this woman to become a dragon like himself, Ozzu mocked her and turned her into an evil serpent monstrosity.  The elders told Jurda that where snakes congregated was a place of Kurga and that the arrival of snakes was a symbol of her return.    After a super uplifiting conversation with Ram's mom (who was insistent that she preferred to die in combat rather than being tucked away to die slowly) the gang visited Killa, the leader of the Messengers of Truth, and her brother Bjorn. After a breakdown in communication, the group eventually agreed to "steal" the wagon of weapons from the Noble Sons, but they couldn't promise that it would make it's way to the front line for Kullst Shadow-Speaker and his upcoming battle at Brinemouth. Killa agreed to pay the group for stealing the weapons, and offered an additional 150 GP if it was delivered to the Messengers of Truth.    Meanwhile, Dia returned to Castle Rakmark to communicate with her dad through magical fireplace. Diablo told her that he had been receiving messages from The Architect, a god that had left them thousands of years previous. The Architect wanted Diablo to find five Pentastones because there was a Great Nothing coming to destroy everything in existence. The Architect guided Diablo to Tuath, where it was revealed that King Crod was excavating an underground temple that possibly held one of these mysterious Pentastones.    Diablo originally believed The Architect and Crod's god to be one being, but thanks to some research by Dia's brother Pyrallis, it was revealed that they were separate entities- at one time connected but no longer as Ozzu has been banished from our dimension.    Diablo also informed Dia that the traitor had been located and that he was being dealt with by the Festering Family. He requested that Dia abandoned that mission and visit the Bay of Verglass to visit a rumored monastery there where more information might be found about the Pentastones and their location.    The group came back together just in time to meet Brenna (Juliet) at the docks and to formulate a plan to get her and Bjorn from the city. The agreed to meet the following night (Eve of Sun's Birth) at 10 o'clock to flee the city on the group's boat.    On the way back to their makeshift hideout, the group encountered two half snake and human individuals with two members of The Stained, trying to abduct people from their homes using violence or a strange black liquid that smelled strangely like Sweet Whiskey.    After reading the thoughts of one of The Stained and having a chat with the corpse of the other, the group discovered that these priests had been under some sort of mind control and that they were told to "Get more and kill anyone who gets in your way!". They also learned that these people were being taken to the Infirmary of the Stained so they could be prepared for Rockjaw.    Following the battle group had restless dreams.    Dia dreamed she had bit the neck of a black-skin tiefling who was dead in her arms.    Tenebris dreamed of his sister and a voice from darkness spoke to him and said "You forgot her, Tenebris. The light blinded you. Open yourself to the truth."    Our session ended before night was over, just as Bryseis was taking watch...
