Since Whelm has come into his hands, Seom seems to be having a racial identity crisis, topped with a nasty case of mixed motivations.   Ark feels he is responsible for his family's business, but even despite that responsibility on his shoulders, he truly desires that rush of freedom and sees with the great power he now wields that he could bring some level of peace to his family and still show everyone he can be responsible, not for others but mostly for himself.
