Session 67: TG: The red room
General Summary
After saving a wood elf and a drow lady from their shrines we returned them to the caravan for questioning. They were still unconscious but Voron detected some transmutation en enchantment magic on them, which he dispelled. Perhaps they all have a trigger placed upon them to kill themselves? The wood elf is the first to wake up and introduces herself als Aira Aerathil. She’s apparently from that other world. Not Thay, that’s apparently only the name of the country this doomvault is in. She wants to go home, though we suggest she takes a little bit of time to recover before making the journey back. A little while after the wood elf, the drow wakes up. She turns out to not be a nice lady, but I didn’t expect anything else. She’s named Astra and tells us about a teleportation circle on her world that she could use to get back. Janey is very interested in getting to know the location of this circle, but as I was expecting, Astra doesn’t want to share the drow’s secrets. She also stays at the caravan to rest up, but is determined to leave tomorrow. The sooner the better in my opinion. After a good rest, we escort the drow back to her world and enter the halls of extraction again. The next room we head for is the one marked in red on the map. We carefully open the door and get a view of the room. It is covered in red marble and all around the room we can hear the screams of people. We also spot 2 undead and a red wizard inside. The undead are dealt with swiftly and the wizard is put to sleep for interrogation later. We tie him up and focus on the human inside the room’s shrine. After Valstrax deals with the pillars, the human inside changes into an undead wight and shadowy creatures appear from the bases of the shrine’s pillars. While they catch us off guard, we deal with them swiftly. Now that the room is secure and without creepy screams, the party turns to the red wizard we had captured. He was reluctant to share much information, but a spell that Aaldryn cast on him to read his thoughts did work wonders. He even got some glimpses of where this wizard was hiding his spell book. I think all this questioning got this wizard pretty nervous because he tried to cast some kind of spell, though Janey was quick to counter it. We decided to gag him and leave him outside for more questioning later. To make sure he wasn’t going to escape, the others took out some of the paralysing wood that we harvested in the worst place in this dungeon. We’re heading back inside now to clear the remaining rooms. These shrines must be the key to get into the phylactery vault, I’m sure of it.
