Session 25: Getting Ghosted

General Summary

The magic mouth talks about intruders, and we talk a bit about it. And about traps. And the stone door at the top of the stairs. We head through it to see what's beyond there.   It opens up into a massive hall with 10 pillars, and it's nicely lit. That, and the campsite in front of the throne suggests that there's people here. The pillars are amazing, carved into the likeness of Giants and Dragons. And we can see 5 other exits from the room, outside of the door we just came through.   We hear a feminine voice, demanding that we leave this place. Yeah, no. We went through a lot of trouble getting here, we're NOT leaving before we see that fricken forge! And they're hiding in the back of the hall, like cowards.   Voron does some magic to try and make them stop hiding, and he gets hit with a javelin. Well, guess we're fighting these guys. I try to be diplomatic, and invite the grey-skinned Dwarves to dinner at their campfire. I know I can make some food with this gear just fine. But, seeing as they don't want to join for dinner, I guess we gotta turn them into dinner. Such a shame...   And then one of them grows bigger. Guess these guys can do that. Cheaters. Doesn't matter. Inspired by Duldar's work with the flaming door, I try shooting a flaming skull at them instead of a snake. And it works a lot better! I actually hit him and did some damage! As one of them comes closer, he suddenly crumples to the floor, as Skrik stuck a bolt somewhere important. Still happy that he does that to our enemies instead of us. Because that looks pretty painful.   Then he gets stabbed by one of them that has been invisible. Seriously, they're fuckin' cheaters. So, I do a little cheating of my own, and magic over there for a hug. And poke her with my fancy new rapier. She went from "I'm fine!" to "I'm fucked!" REAL quick. And then Skrik gets some revenge by cutting her across the heels, and she passes out from the pain. So they tie her up, and bring her too. While I set up the campfire for making food. But, they want my help convincing Ghared, as she's called.   We get some info out of her on the area. Mostly that there's undead to the north, a kitchen with 'weird magic' to the southwest, and the other 2 doors are "none of our business". Well, Skrik doesn't like her attitude, and he gives her an ultimatum. Which she doesn't meet, so he shoots her in the face. Like he promised her he would. Guess she won't be able to tell the rest of them to leave us alone. Oh well.   I make some dinner, but not from the 'Duergar'. Funny word. But the rest doesn't wanna eat them. Suuuuuuure. They'll eat Sahuagin, Bugbear, Orc... But suddenly Dwarf isn't good enough for them. And they won't let ME have any, either!   Anyway, the plan is to go to the library first. After a detour to a shrine or something, in which Voron says he notices 2 magical things under a bunch of bones. Bones that collect into 2 large skeletons. And the Orc there wakes up too. The one that was supposed to be dead, you know?   Janey lobs in an exploding butterfly (Don't ask me how that works, it just does!), and hits none of us this time. That's nice. I go in and hug the closest skeleton, and it doesn't like my hugging at all. Too bad for it, because I like to hug people.   Then the Orc comes up to me, and hits me pretty badly. That's less fun. Skrik finishes off the skeleton I was hugging, Voron and Janey tagteam the other one with that moonlight and a bone to the junk respectively. And my flaming skull spell does a buncha damage to the Orc! Just in time for Duldar to turn it's ugly face into mush.   Once we're certain there's nothing else in here that's gonna come alive and try to kill us, we start looting the place. Janey gets a bone scroll case with 2 scrolls in it, and Duldar gets some Dwarf-sized plate armor, that looks amazing, despite having been left alone for several centuries. Not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous that he has nicely fitting plate armor before we can get the one we got for me fitted. Maybe when we get to the forge here, he can make mine fit snugly on me.   We have a quick rest to catch out breaths, since I got hurt pretty badly. Next doorway, which should lead to the library. Duldar wants to lead the way, because he wants to see how well his new armor works. Maybe that wasn't the best idea. Because there's a ghostly moaning, a quick apparition, and Duldar gets fuckin' possessed. So I have to grab him to make sure he doesn't whack us with that hammer. And I keep on squeezing tightly until the ghost comes out! Fuckin' thing tries to scare us, and then fucks off through the floor. I am REALLY not enjoying undead.   Even less so when, after we get Duldar back on his feet because we had to knock him out, the ghost possesses Janey! I'm just glad it didn't know she's a spellcaster, because that would've been very annoying. So, I give Janey a danger hug as well, to keep her from hurting us. Skrik tries his best to make them remember who they are, but it doesn't work. Sadly.   Duldar does some cool magic to make it pop out of Janey, I stab it with my rapier and channel some magic through it to hurt it more effectively... And Skrik puts a bolt through it's ghastly face, and it vanishes into mist.   After that whole ordeal, we decide thatvwe need to have a good night's sleep, so Janey does her pink bubble magic stuff. Hopefully tomorrow goes a bit better. I don't like having to kill people just to walk around this place.
