Session 22: Investigating Axiom Part 7 Report

General Summary

At Axiom Hall, Dac and Winnow were escorted by Vai to meet with Cadence. When they enterred into her office, they found her in conversation with a small gearforged named Calypso who was warning her about Coda. Meanwhile, Cadence throughout the conversation was being worked on by a gearforged doctor named Proha. Kara Towers made her case to Cadence and Proha the memory gears that belong to Ones may contain information vital to the case. She refused to relent, but when pressed by Calypso and Winnow, Cadence revealed that the item she recieved from Coda was weapon that could control or manipulate monsters. Cadence admitted that she doesn't have a lot of love for Coda, but he's helping her explore the depths of the Mekanos Infinitum and the price is that she leaves immediately. To Cadence, this seems a worthy trade.

As Cadence departed, she gave her tentative blessing for Proha and Calypso to access One's memory gears and the party set to work installing the gears. Calypso was able to read Ones's memories, (including his work in understanding all of Novus as a living machine -- like a gearforged -- with mentions of a "Calyx" which piqued Feyre's interest). She also relived One's final memories, confirming that Coda was present and involved in his death. In the process of examining Ones's memories, Calypso's body fused with the gears and Proha was unable to extract the memory gears.

Winnow recommend the party see Curtis about this weapon. With the help of Curtis and a his pet spider Cornell, Curtis showed how the weapon work. The gas transmits psychic impulses from people towards beasts, overwriting their will. Repeated, small usages of this compound is helpful in domesticating animals, but Coda seems to be using it to build an army of smuggled beasts. Curtis was manipulated by Coda into teaching him the formula.

Calypso mentioned that many of Coda's men have been guarding a warehouse in Axiom where crates are loaded into, but never out of. She suggested that the party investigate there next. Kara felt she now had enough evidence to draw up official warrants to involved the Brass Spears of Novus. She asked the party to be careful in their further investigation.
