Session 7 - Secrets of the Green Lantern
General Summary
In the aftermath of a ferocious skirmish with wolves, our heroes, spearheaded by Dav and Vaz'non, scoured the lair of their fallen foes. The air was thick with the musk of predators, and the floor littered with remnants of prey, both animal and human. Amidst the clutter of rubble and a macabre collection of bones, both animal and disturbingly human, they uncovered a leather backpack nestled under humanoid remains. This pack held a secret: an elaborate indigo lantern, a piece of art in itself. Their quest led them to a grand dais, commanding attention with its ancient, yet vivid mosaic. The artwork depicted an expansive room with seven hallways, each guarded by a chain and an illuminated lantern, a rainbow frozen in time. Below, in a domed chamber, reality mirrored art, but with two glaring differences: only one latern was illuminated, not seven, and the red and indigo lanterns were missing. The glowing green lantern cast eerie, star-like reflections across the chamber. The sarcophagus itself was a puzzle, resting on an arrow-shaped platform and guarded by a flame trap. The missing lanterns, particularly the red, hung over them like unanswered riddles. In a passage high above the blue lantern, a precarious climb led to an ominous stone face, identical to the figure on the sarcophagus. Dav's attempt to disarm traps backfired, triggering a gust of hurricane-force wind. The face’s eyes spun with hypnotic illusory patterns in all of the colors of the rainbow lanterns in the chamber below, save for the green. The pattern overwhelmed Dav, leaving him paralyzed and helpless against the hurricane. The winds wreaked havoc, blowing everyone from the passageway. Alfie's failed grasp on a chain led to a perilous fall. The recovered indigo lantern from the wolves' den found its rightful place, leaving the red lantern's absence a lingering question. A hidden everburning torch in the green lantern and a rumbling platform signaled an unstable structure, soon followed by an onslaught of beetles and a skittering abomination. Having defeated these threats and sealing the entrance, the heroes rested, only to be awakened by new danger. Intruders, led by the albino half-orc Kullen, sought Clover Brightfoot for their boss, Boniface Halbert. A confrontation ensued, but Clover's defiance and the team's solidarity forced Kullen to retreat. Venturing deeper, they found a room adorned with statues, echoing the sarcophagus' figure. A displaced stone block unleashed a toxic trap, sapping their strength and forcing a hasty escape into a corridor adorned with mystical carvings. There, a spectator creature attacked, only to be swiftly defeated. With a cool breeze stirring in the air, the adventurers stood at the precipice of the unknown, their journey into the darkness far from over.
