Session 65: A murder to solve. Report

General Summary

The companions of Franchise K sit at the table of the inn recovering from the fight when an eight year old elf approaches the party after seeing them fight the old crones. The boy who name is Thalmor Dutgek ask if the party can solve the murder of his father considering that he knows that some of the members have the Dovahkiin mark on the left hands. Thalmor tells them that his dad had trained him on what to look for and that if he ever saw people who covered there marks to let him know. Then he begins to cry because now that he has found them he cannot tell his dad that the Dovahkiin are back. Lieutenant Aetos Thessalos of the Crimson Guard shows up and begins asking a series of questions and voices concerns that several people beside the ugly crones have been asking about Sarah. This is troubling to the LT considering Sarah is such a popular person in the town of Tyrus. While having this conversation Zandi notices a elf in the corner of the room watching the party. The elf had green eyes not just green eyes, but familiar green eyes that she has not seen in five years. This elf who seems to be watching the party keeps staring at Zandi with disbelief in his eyes. When Zandi reacts and ask the elf if he has a problem the elf puts his head down and eventually leaves the inn. When the LT sees the Elf leaving he tells the party that is Kaelen Virel who also has been asking questions about Sarah.   Then party then went north of Tyrus where GenCon was located. Along the way Zandi once again spotted her former lover in the distance watching and observing the party then once again dissapeared once he was spotted by her. As they tried to enter the complex a half-orc by the name of Johanna Welkerson said that only employees were allowed to enter the complex. If they want to apply for the most recent vacated spot that they would have to defeat her in battle. Then the party showed the papers giving them the authorization to investigate the murder. Dimmir who wanted to participate along with others agreed to take on the half-orc for the right to be in the games later that evening. Zayrdi went with Dimmir for support while the rest of the party investigating the murder. First they examined the body of the victim. Like Thalmor said Thalmike indeed was a Dovahkiin. The Victim has been shot in the right shoulder and signs of a very deadly poison was used. The Arrow was at an angle indicating that the shot came from a place with height. Jasmal then cast speak with the dead and asked five questions to the victim. From there they discovered that he did not see where the arrow came from. That he died a very painful death as the poison spread through his body. Thalmike also told the party that we was starting to look into the mysterious death that seem to be tied to the last 10 cities that GladCon had been to. That since the hiring of Kaelen Virel is when these murders started happening. Thalmike told the party that Kaelen was a very private person never invited anyone to his wagon or socialized much with the employees of Gladcon. Thalmike was asked who specialized in archery and he told them that the elf and the halfling had those special skills. When Belleri was interviewed they learned from her that Thalmike was the number one attraction of GladCon. That he frequently had nightmares from his past due to be a surviving veteran of the War of the Ancients. Thalmike was a very faithful husband and a great father. Tear formed in her eyes as she told them that it took her 200 years to convince him to have a child. The eight years as a father really improved his Demeter. The bond between the boy and her husband was very strong. She did have concerns about the tails of the Dovahkiin returning. Everyone knows that the dragons were killed 500 years ago. She was concerned with telling her child that the Dovahkiin would someday be back when the Soteropolis region would need them most. Now what is she to tell her son when these questions come up.   While investigating the area where the murder was committed the companions figured out where the shot was taken. The shot was taken from a makeshift wall made by the employees to protect their encampment. The was ten feet high but wide enough for a person to stand and take the shot if the person was skilled enough. On the wall where the shot was taken they found a wooden coin with the number 499 burned into the coin. Two humanoid foot prints could be seen on the wall where the shot was taken. Zandi began to investigate what direction the foot prints came from. She found evidence of whoever committed the crime of covering up there tracks. Her years of being a member of the famed Moon Shadow Raiders a distinct unit in the army of the realm of the Wood Elves helping her reveal the clues. As she continued to investigate she saw signs of her training in this cover up indicating that whoever this person was is a former member of this unit. As she reached the road she was shot in the right shoulder blade with an arrow that almost killed her. But then the grueling and antagonizing pain of the poison began to take effect as her body began to become paralyzed from the effect of the poison. By the time that the party reached her she had fell unconscious her body having seizers from the deadly poison. With death knocking on her door she was healed by Jasmal with a supreme healing potion. Then Karrin layed on hands curing the effects of the poison. The arrow shaft in her back had a number 1 burned into the shaft of the arrow. As the companions went into the direction of where they thought the shot came from they found a wooden coin with a broken heart and the number one burned into the coin. In the brief moment that Zandi was unconscious she heard a voice in here head telling her that she could not die yet. That she has been chosen. Zandi was told to find her seek her. Her skill set was needed in the upcoming war.
