Session 07: The One Where the Cleric Gets Mauled by an Owlbear

General Summary

• The party travels with Azzat Titanbane and his barbarians for a few days, Kayl and Frederick do their best to appeal to Azzat and befriend him.

• After climbing towards the mountains until they come across a canyon with a bridge. Azzat warns them that beyond the bridge is goblin country, so everyone best keep their wits about them.

• Azzat sends his barbarians across the bridge to secure the other side, then sends the party across. Odila just begins her crossing when an Owlbear ambushes the party and attacks Azzat, damaging the bridge and sending it into the canyon. Odila just manages to jumpt to safety, but Azzat is taken by the Owlbear who flees into the forest with him.

• The party gives chase and eventually corners the Owlbear at its lair. Kayl almost dies in the process and sees a vision of the afterlife and his goddess, Eldath but they manage to slay it and stabilize a very wounded Azzat. Though he is okay, he has lost one of his legs.

• In a flurry, Azzat realizes that he has dropped the object of his quest: a scale. He immediately pressed upon the party to help him search for it, and they back track the owlbear's steps to locate it.

• When they top a small ridgeline, they come across a band of goblins and hobgoblins. One of which is holding aloft a small, silvery scale in triumph. As the party attacks, half the goblins flee, taking the scale with them into the woods.

• The party follows them to a small box canyon and discovers a sizable goblin camp within.
