Session 9 Oh Momma Report

General Summary

The party get the Wildspace Orrery from Topolah. In return they agree to exterminate Big Momma a void scavver that has developed a taste for living creatures. The scavenger is harassing Topolah's birds. On their way back to the Second Wind they are attacked by Big Momma, who shallows Sandy. In the sudden attack Matilda is caught unaware and Rickon becomes the victim of the scavver's fear ray eye. Sandy manages to keep fighting from inside the monster, but not before Big Momma manges to gravely wound Wilhelm. Finally Sandy does so much damage that Big Momma regurgitates her. They finish off the wounded scavver, who spits up a fish suit containing the skeleton of a dwarf.
With Big Momma destroyed Topolah joins them on the Second Wind and suggests they try to find her old flame Grimzod Gargenhale, a pirate who has fought the Astral Elves before. She agrees to help find him. She attunes to the spelljammer helm of the Second Wind. During that time the party takes a short rest.
They come upon the wreckage of a great battle. Two vampirates try to board the ship but Sandy sends them on their way at the behest of Commodore KruX. Sandy, now wearing the fish suit and Wilhelm investigate one of the destroyed ships, a Flying Fish and aboard find 550 GP , six rubies worth 150 GP a piece and a spelljamming helm. Rickon helps them get it aboard the Second Wind in his genie's bottle.
A will-o'-wisp, on one of the ships during the battle finds them and seeing Topolah, who it recognizes, agrees to lead them to Gargenhale's new rendezvous point. When they get there the next day they find a ship, the Last Breath crewed by vampirates, and led by Gargenhale.
