Session 11: Marduk Complex Report
General Summary
The party decides to take a day to recuperate from their exploration of the complex. Fassae fell sick from having too many cyphers on her. After redistributing the devices Mollie was able to describe a medicine that could help. Udo and 3 Knot were able to find the ingredients and get Fassae on the mend. They spend the day resting and communicating with Gwenty using the sending stones given to them by 2 Waay Hands. The party informed Gwenty they had collected many cyphers and encountered other obstacles. She instructed them to return to Karna directly with their spoils and take all party members directly to the Palace. The code word would be Index. They decide to explore the rest of the top level and figure out if they can open the doors in order to get the larger pieces of equipment out of the complex. They re enter the complex and begin exploring the right side of the hanger area. In this cavernous area they find the remains of burned object. Maybe a vehicle? They discover a huge roll up door that is locked. Mollie is able to unlock the door and Kheman can open it enough for everyone to walk in. Behind the door is a large metallic insectoid looking object. A vehicle of some type. Mollie overtaken by this discovery runs into the room, but is immediately shot by cannons that come out of the ceiling! The party scatters; Mollie and Fassae dive under the vehicle, Kheman climbs the vehicle's front, Udo rolls around the corner of the door opening and takes full cover. Kheman clambers over the top and in a running jump hits the turret, putting huge rents into it. Mollie rolls out from underneath the vehicle and finishes off the turret with a well placed fire bolt. Also in the room is a console and a sliding door. Many attempts are made to figure out the locking mechnism but eventually Kheman and Udo brute force the door open. Fassae climbs up on the vehicle and begins to look around for anything interesting. She finds a few hatches that open and expose wiring, cables and pipes. Then she finds a hatch on top that leads into the vehicle. she goes in, finds some seating and a helmet, which she puts on... Mollie examines the console and finds that it controls repair functions in this room. but seeing that Fassae has climbed up on top of the vehicle, then disappeared she decides to investigate. Kheman and Udo find a room with consoles and two big wheels. Udo attempts to turn the right wheel and find it is jammed. The left wheels turns more easily and they begin to turn it. On a hunch Udo runs around the Y shaped cavern to see the massive doors have opened a sliver. Fassae put on the helmet and is immediately floored by a flood of images, text and weird visual distortions. The text appears in multiple scripts but she focuses on the elvish and the rest of the text begins to switch to elvish. That's her natural language. She begins to see words that she can read but don't make any sense - attitude thruster, artificial horizon, landing gear. but the images seems to show the status of this vehicle. Mollie comes into the vehicle and starts taking notes of the various controls and what Fassae can see while she has the helmet on. Cautiously Mollie puts on the helmet. She too is overwhelmed by the flood of images and text pouring into her frame of vision. Fassae walks Mollie through how she is using the helmet to put words where she wants them and displays. working together they begin to discover the secrets of the vehicle. First one, it's a flying vehicle! With the front doors now open Udo collects the rest of the expedition at the camp on top of the hill. They marvel at the wonders the party has discovered. Nadir takes up guard duty at the front door, C'Hinzza and 3 Knot are put to work clearing the wreckage of that previous vehicle. Kheman and Udo take the cargo elevator to go collect the food replicator and the drone fabricator. Over the next several hours the complex machinery of the ancients are loaded into the cargo section of the vehicle. Mollie and Fassae unlock the vehicle's manual and AI system. And the commode. The loot is loading into the back of the vehicle from the main ramp that Fassae activates. On the last trip up Kheman and Udo hear Beep-Boop the Cuidit down the hall. They inform the party and Fassae and Udo go to investigate. Beep-Boop attacks them. Fassae is able to capture the little ball of trouble in her coat and they drag it back to the hanger. The stash it in the commode. Th party discusses the fate of the Cuidit. They decide to leave it behind, but bottled up in some way. Kheman grabs an empty crate and the Cuidit after some trouble is scooped and locked into the crate. Kheman buries it under a caved in portion of the complex. With that Mollie and Fassae take a chance to pilot the vehicle out of the hanger. Being very careful and using the AI to navigate around the corners they make a perfect taxi out of the hanger and on the clearing outside the front doors. They send 3 Knot, C'Hinzza, and Nadir to break the camp and set up by the vehicle. Meanwhile they discuss what to do with C'Hinzza. Their orders were to take everyone back to Karna direct, however that wasn't their deal with her and she isn't from Karna. Udo suggests paying her double her fee to go with them back to Karna, or she can go home but needs to never speak of this again. Fassae is elected to approach her. She counter offers for 300gp, saying she will need to disappear and that means moving her family too. This is negotiated and paid, she will leave in the morning. Udo cleans up the camp and hides all evidence anyone was here. Kheman and Udo then cover up the vent opening with rocks and boulders and hide it. The party then beds down for the night. Kheman takes the first watch, but falls asleep from all of the hard work he did that day. Meanwhile Udo hears a sound that rousts him from his sleep - a sound in his head - mental static from Murdens!
Rewards Granted
The party has discovered, unlocked, deciphered and learned to fly an ancient vehicle. Mollie and Fassae now both have piloting skills.
