Session 10: Marduk Depths Report
General Summary
The party decides to take a long rest in the seating/ mess area. Fassae takes two watches, and Udo takes the third. Those that slept each had a dream, only fassae spoke of hers, making her feel new resolve. The other had dreams of a large round door and wanting something beyond it. They found a working elevator and took it down to the next level. They realize they can use the Iron Flesh arm they found earlier as a "pass key" to open areas. They find a large antechamber with a terminal. Mollie is able to find a simple map of the level. They discover three ways to go, another small airlock antechamber, a large hallway, and a room with large technology. Mollie jumps at the chance to inspect the equipment and only gets about halfway in the room before she realizes the room is full of drones. They seem inactive though. the rest of the party joins while she tries to disable the machine she determine is a drone assembler. Despite the interruptions from the Cuddit Beep-Boop she succeeds. Then the Cuddit "accidentally" alerts the drones to their presence. Udo tosses out a grasping vines spell to bind the drones to their cradles. several escape the area of effect and begin to attack. Mollie casts Haste on Keiman which makes him nearly impossible to hit. The rest of the party engages drones as they break free from the vines. Fassae destroys one by reaching in and yanking out a critical component. The drones are eventually defeated. Mollie successfully disassembled the drone fabricator and it can be carried out in pieces. No more drones are active in the facility. They find a computer room with a control center and a quantum computer. The party figures out they can restart the quantum computer, but need main power put back on. They find the elevator controls where locked out, physically in the year 354. They then travel to the other side of the corridor and travel through the airlock The find the reactor room. Keiman remembers he took 4 synth overalls that will fit Mollie and Fassae. They decide to don them and enter the reactor room. They find some cyphers and some damaged electrical equipment which arcs and hurts Mollie. She recovers then inspects the reactor core and determines that it can be manually restarted. She decides it's too soon and too dangerous to restart that equipment. The party decides to try the elevator and Keiman breaks the lock off. they enter the elevator and travel down to the lowest level, a deep cavern and find another large airlock. The inner door is built such that it won't open with out main power being provided. They find a control room and it is un-powered. It has large windows and and they can see a strange portal beyond and opposite that a large round door - exactly like the one they saw in their dreams. They are under the suggestion that they want to open it. Mollie is split, she want's to get at what ever is on the other side, but also knows it will be dangerous to start the main reactor back up. Seeing an impass the party decides to return to the first level using the cargo elevator and join the rest of the party at the camp site. Mollie spends the night identifying cyphers. Mollie and Udo once outside and back in nature realize their drive to open the door was an illogical compulsion. Keiman is still driven to see what is behind the door.
