Deep in the Catacombs Report

General Summary

Party begins in the Crypt of House Sibelius They bypass the Crypt of House Alvaro while Kiril is in the Crypt of House Sibelius reading the book he found.   They happen upon the Knight’s mausoleum next. Calvin notices humanoid footprints leading toward the back of the room (into the darkness) They find a broken sarcophagus labeled Sir Galandran that has been knocked down and broken open. It’s empty. The footprints lead to and back away from the sarcophagus   They find another sarcophagus labeled Lady Halavarin that has gouges in the side and is nudged slightly sideways on the pedestal. The lid is slightly moved but not enough for the sarcophagus to be open. They notice tracks retreating from the sarcophagus and a smudged spot on the wall.   When they open Lady Halavarin’s sarcophogus they hear a disembodied voice ring out alarmingly loud: Halavarin swung her saber Pressed by foes on every side Heedless in her battle’s labor Whirling with a lightsome stride Slicing arms and legs and head, Trampled fields home to her dead. Armor painted with their blood, Ankle-deep in gory mud. As she plied her royal duty, She Beseeched her foes with murderous entreat Absent fear, a rage of beauty No fear of death, her end she’d meet.   They continue down a staircase to a black iron door that’s blocked by a dead human body. The man is holding a leather bag and a scrap of paper with an A scrawled on it. One of his arms have been ripped off. His remaining hand has three black circles tattooed on it. They use his body to prop the door open. They reach into his bag and find a dead priest and city guard inside, in addition to a book from the Crypt of House Alvaro with the first page ripped out. The priest’s throat is cut by some sort of blade, but the guard appears to have died from having his leg ripped off. They find the head of a Bone Reaver in the bag. They find a paper with the cult’s symbol on it with notes on how to get into the catacombs via the form submission process.   The party finds a crypt for plague victims with a bone reaver in it. The room is full of sarcophagi that are all opened and/or shattered. There are half-eaten bones littering the floor.   The party kills the bone reaver and is subsequently ambushed by three more bone reavers who come down the stairwell. Calvin kills the first and two of the second almost singlehandedly.   The party puts the priest and city guard in the bag of holding.   The party finds the forbidden library. Calvin thinks of the door and reaches into the bag of holding. He pulls out a wolf-like canine tooth on a leather necklace and puts it on.   The party figures out how to open the door and finds themselves faced with the forbidden library.
