Session 52: Gone with the Wind
General Summary
1st-16th Misuthar 836PD 1st Misuthar The Unbroken clear through the rest of the temple and the undead shadows. Whilst taking a rest for Zeni to regain her strength, the party uncovers Vetelius's journal. Written in Abyssal, Ceri casts Comprehend Language: "21st Duscsar. The Lady should be out out of the picture. Elthar will take out the Lord. With him gone, the residiuum will be my Lords. 1st Horisal I have received word Elthar will be in position within a week. There are others in the equation. They shouldn't interfere. Apparently, the cub is with them. He will do our bidding. He is still loyal to the bird. 10th Horisal Elthar has failed. The Lady protected the Lord. The cub will need to complete the job. My Lord need the residiuum, not to mention the chaos needed. 11th Horisal The cub has failed. I have tried to contact him. Maybe his usefulness is at an end. I have communed with my Lord. He will open enough portals to bury the town in demonspawn. Hopefully the Lord and the cub will perish. Inelegant, but I feel My Lord is taking a calculated risk. 29th Horisal The Unbroken have come to visit. The cub managed to get in and take the bird. This is unacceptable. Too many of the bird’s loyal retainers are still here. They do not know. I must speak to my Lord for his command. 29th Horisal - Continued The Shade Temple is too exposed. It is time to cut ties. Demons will come to aid me. My Lord informed me to wait until they have finished, and then join him. I am pleased my efforts will continue to aid the cause." Sabali sits with Kenji, he's injuries are too great and he feels that he will be joining with Feng Li soon. In the precious moments they have together, Kenji passes on that there are secret teachings in the vault on controlling your own shadow. Before he passes, he gives words of encouragement to Sabali and a wish that becomes everything that he could not be. Searching through the vault and Vetelius's body, the party find several thousand gold's worth of platinum, Sabali takes a short sword of life stealing, and Raph takes an Amulet of Proof against Detection & Location. The party lay the bodies of the shade temple monks to rest in a funeral pyre, take their own rest, consider what to do with the empty temple, and consider questions to ask Vetelius when Simeon has speak with dead prepared the next day. 2nd-15th Misuthar The party decided on their questions to Vetelius, seeking to know who is the Lord they serve and more about their plot, but when the spell is cast the spirit is seemingly constrained to speak. With no further leads, the party dispose of Vetelius's body and Queen Mab pays them a visit. She confirms to Sabali that Kenji has passed on and sits by her mother, the Raven Queen's side. In her private discussion with Raphael she knows of his new amulet, and can still track Frostweaver. Which has been awakened with new abilities to tilt the scales of death to the wielders advantage and deliver charges of frozen magic. The Unbroken travel north through the Windless mountains to Westruun, arriving 2 weeks later. 16th Misuthar The party take some time to catch up and run errands. Ceri informs Captain Rance of the Shields, about their investigation into the murder of Kursk, confirming that it was Sabali under orders of the corrupted Shade Temple. They won't take action against Sabali, but a good will gesture of a donation to the officers and orphans fund to pay would make some amends. Dealing with Kardar is raised, but this can wait as he and the ravagers bunker down for the winter and will not be a problem for several months. Sabali and Ceri go and pay a very generous 50 platinum to the orphanage, Raph catches up with Pick about an elven mage asking questions about his cover persona, Kryos. The party contacted Whitestone to arrange transport to debrief them on the temple. Gilmore will meet them in Westruun to teleport them to Whitestone. Sadly, Wind announced to the group that she has decided to leave the uncomfortable life of an adventurer, and decides to stay in Westruun with Pick to explore more glamourous ventures in the spy world.
