Session 149: Gala Fiendraiser

General Summary

22nd-23rd Sydenstar 836PD   Now suitably dressed for the occasion, the Unbroken attend the gala fundraiser at the Silver Shard university. Raphael attends in his Jeremy Hightower disguise, whilst the rest try to keep to an equally modest profile. Arthur and his ‘student’ Zeni make connections with some of the senior academics and nobles who could help introduce them to Lord Treacy, who eventually arrives late in the evening.    Through Orlando’s magical goggles, he sees right through the Lord’s illusory appearance, to find another Karkematth clone with a metal arm. ‘Lord Treacy’ sees through Raph’s disguise as well, and they have a tense exchange of barbs. Raph is eager to make a move, but Orlando and Arthur spot several explosive glyphs and a 9th circle Gate glyph that surround the civilians at the gala. Unable to make a move without risking the people, Raph and the Unbroken let Treacy leave, but are quick to evacuate the gala and dispel the glyphs.    Anticipating a move on the Ebon Codex, the party rush to the Cobalt Reserve and give night watch over the entrance to the lower depository. The Unbroken travel down to the secret levels, finding the spiritual guardians and safeguards deactivated as well as the Depository Master petrified. As Simeon restores him, Orlando spots an invisible shadow bird demon lord waiting to pounce on them when they were going to bring the key to the Codex. It strikes when spotted, shrouding the room in hindering silence and darkness...
