Session 157: The Mutual Massacres
General Summary
3rd -4th Fessuran 836PD At dawn, Arthur with arcane glee activates a Spell Gem they previously found in Karkematth's abandoned clone laboratory. Unleashing the Gem’s stored Shapechange spell, the white-haired wizard is transformed into an Ancient White Dragon! The Unbroken ride atop the White Wizard Dragon, as Arthur’s Icy Breath obliterates the Chain Giant and Chain Soldiers on the bridge. With the rest of the party felling the stragglers and the runaways, they clear the bridge for the Tal’Dorei forces to advance over and push back the enemy’s position. By the end of the day, the Unbroken and allies had landed a heavy blow and made firm inroads into enemy territory. However, come nightfall the blinding dark obscures the Oblivion’s demons and shadows, allowing them to decimate the weary Tal’Dorei forces. During the night, the party join Raph in his Dream to their spy Jinarth, but find that’s she’s been mentally dominated by Treacy. Who joins the dream to mock the Unbroken over his new recruit and that he’ll find the other spy soon enough. He mockingly ‘congratulates’ the party for the minor disruption to his Shadow Storm ritual, but gloats that it’s still holding. Come the morning of a rising red sun, the Unbroken check in with an exhausted Lady Kima in her war tent. The causalities are still being counted, but any sense of yesterday’s victory has soon gone. As Treacy mocked, the Shadow Storm was still holding across the rest of the battlefield and thus preventing any full-scale assault on the Obsidian Fortress. As the group survey the battlefield map on the war table, they note that one of the remaining Storm ritual sites is in a vulnerable position that is pincered between Tal’Dorei forces from Lyrengorn and Kraghammer. The party calculate that with the site becoming more vulnerable, Treacy himself would be there to protect it. But this time, they will need to do more than just take out another node of the seven-pointed Storm, they must find a way to at least destroy it or even better to turn it to their cause…
