Session 39: The Druid, the Hound and the Ugly

General Summary

2nd Horisal 836PD   The party are mid battle with Cachalain, a Yeth hound, some corrupt elvish archers and a druid of the old ways. The Yeth hound starts flying…    Raphael counters a thorny spell the druid was attempting to cast, using an icy blast. Some blows are exchanged between the ranged fighters. Raphael pisses off Cachalain who retaliates by bludgeoning his face with a giant club. Cachalain proceeds to give Orlando the evil eye! Sabali sneakily puts a shuriken coated in sleepy juice into the back of an elvish archer who passes out.   Melee blows exchanged between the hound and Ceri in mid air, and between Raph and Cachalain. Orlando calmly reloads his gun and blows the hound out of the sky! Headshot!   Curse of the Evil Eye placed on Enessa with magical deformities! She grows a hump on her back and her arm shrivels in size. Druid spell gets countered again by Raphael. Cachalain splats Raphael immediately into a bloody heap on the floor.   Two arrows land in Orlando’s chest and he drops to the floor, leaving only Sabali and Ussi engaged in melee combat with Cachalain. The druid creates a wall of fire swerving through several members of the party at the back of the group. Ceri casts healing word on Orlando, then swoops down and slashes at the druid with Valour’s Edge delivering two mighty blows. She notices the symbol of Lolth, goddess of spiders, on his clothing.   Simeon revives Raphael, who resumes attacking Cachalain along with Orlando sending a flurry of bullets into the monster. Side stepping smoothly out from the edge of the wall of flames, Wind, calm and relaxed, releases a devastating crossbow bolt directly into the eye of Cachalain. The tip of the bolt punctures the back of its skull as it slumps to the ground.   Zenirith chooses to burst through the wall of flames, cursing as she waves the flames off herself. She casts Leviathan’s Briny Grasp and a giant magical sea creature bursts from the ground and pounces on the druid, holding him firmly in place. Sabali dashes into range, taking advantage of the druid being restrained, and unleashes a series of rapid slashes and a kick to the groin, badly damaging the druid who begins to look desperate.   The elvish archer, looking fearful, fire three arrows, arms shaking, and all three shots miss their targets. Raphael returns an Eldritch Blast which crashes into his leather armour. Sabali releases another flurry of non-lethal strikes, hitting the druid in several weak-points, the druid staggers, and Enessa takes the opportunity to bury an arrow into the druid’s forehead. With just one archer left standing, and one lying asleep, Ceri flies down with the help of Ussi and attacks the last archer who is awake dealing some hefty damage. Orlando weighs in with a couple of blasts from bayou. Wind, Zeni and Simeon also fire some ranged attacks into the poor archer. The sleeping archer finally awakes and volleys a succession of arrows into the unsuspecting party. Raphael goes down again, bleeding heavily. Orlando puts 2 final bullets into an archer ending his life.   Simeon reluctantly revives Raphael again, as the party dispatch the final elvish archer as he attempts to flee pathetically. Sabali slashes at his heels, as Orlando puts a bullet in his back. The group investigate the body of the druid. He appears to be a corrupted human with slight deformities. They find the talisman, made with black metal and bearing the symbol of Lolth.   The group quickly regroup, take a very brief rest and begin the journey back. The party are very tired and worried they aren’t going to make it back in time. Ceri conjured a fine steed for Enessa to ride as she is still slowed from her deformities. The party march at full pace for several hours, many members becoming exhausted in the process. At night fall, they decide to set up camp and attempt to rest before the final push back to the Lord of the Hunt’s camp location.   Exhausted, the party manage to put together a shoddy camp, but at the final hour, whilst the party look around at each other in despair, Raphael places an offering on the floor, and begs for Moonflake to appear and help the party. As if by miracle, Moonflake arrives, and calls to his friends to assist him in exchange for food and the promise of chocolate. The camp is made and the group settle for the night.   Enessa rests wearily. Zeni checks the group for injuries. Ceri plays calming music. Orlando spends time tinkering with Bayou. Raphael directs the fey to complete their tasks to his specification. Sabali tries to relax but is restless. Wind is playing some simple card tricks. The party awake early, all looking slightly better rested than the night before, but some still seem quite tired. There are 3 hours remaining to get back in time!   Linked Journals
