You'd successfully dealt with the Abrikandalus in the library, and then made your way through the crypts, clearing out the ghouls which had taken refuge there. A Ghast, leading another pack of Ghouls, barely survived an encounter with you, and you're currently chasing it back through the crypts as it tries to flee, outdoors and away from the hermitage.
A murder: your friend and beloved ringmaster, Myron Stendhal. A desecration: the local church of Abadar. A disappearance: the Hawfton family, who ran Abberton's mill. To top it all off, there are capricious demons, rogue elementals, fanatical druids, and (if rumors are to be believed) enraged boars about town, as well. What in the blazes is going on in this place?
Having dealt with the zealot that attacked your camp - Nemmia Bramblecloak - you now turned your eyes to the town of Abberton itself. The mayor, Jey Abber, had informed you of several strange and concerning happenings of late - and apologized that you had been caught up in it. Several of the Professor's comrades had slipped out into the town the night before to gather information, and their findings confirmed what the mayor had told you. Things had been going more than a bit wrong for Abberton. You decided to start with the Church of Abadar, where Cubby had said that he smelled something a bit off - like rotting flesh and decay. Inside the vandalized chapel, you found a pair of fiendish creatures having their way with the place. As they turned to advance on you, you heard a voice crying out for help deeper in the church itself.
After learning that your beloved ringmaster, Myron "Thunder" Stendhal, died due to an abnormal amount of venomous snake bites, you're trying to pick through the pieces and see what comes next. There's been talk of finding a Northern Banded Viper and making an antidote, incase there's a massive nest of the things nearby and anyone else gets bitten. You've also talked about going to Myron's trailer and looking for any clues about who killed him. Also, there was some discussion about hunting down the hecklers from early in the evening's show, and see if they know anything about who murdered Myron. For the moment, though, you've just stepped back out into the camp your carnival has called home for the past week. All of the performers and staff are huddled around a large bonfire near the bond, and seem to be looking to you for guidance and safety.
