Session 8: Frenemies Report

General Summary

With Lucas tied up on the bureacracies of Oceangarde, Jim must face alone the consequences of Fine Mary (Dead Mary) having sprung "the trap" on him... A trap set by none other than Raya of the Paragons.   As if that weren't enough, Sala and Elliott realize that the body of Eladra has mysteriously vanished, and now they must deal with the approaching forces of Oceangarde.   Meanwhile, Fynbar is approached by a mysterious man named Arrow, who as it turns out is a member of the feared Coalition of the Ascended.   Fates converge and we learn that Raya has been spying on the party since the beginning, keeping an eye on them as they attempt to unravel the mysteries on behalf of their new employer, the Pael Eye.   Jim is sentenced to death for collusion with the Pael Eye and is accused of having been party to stealing her corpse when he recognizes Raya as the lady of an old friend's loss: His buddy Macintosh. Mack always spoke so fondly of her. After calling attention to this, Raya takes him away to sort things out, and when the party comes to find Jim, Raya speaks with them and makes a deal: Help reunite her with her lost love, and she'll owe them a favor. This sounds like a pretty good deal and Sala collects an Orb (on Jim's behalf) to contact Raya at some later time.   They learn as well that the Pael Eye are a bunch of bush-league amateurs in the great game of factions in Altan'ruhl, and Raya's real target is the Coalition of the Ascended. They'll learn that the COA took Eladra, and decide this is enough information to go collect from the Pael Eye.   Unfortunately, the Pael Eye has been ripped apart by a very nasty Mercy-wielding Magen.   They also learn in person that Cifs Skyrazor torched the plants.   Case Closed. Contract complete.
