Session 38: Obedience is Rewarded. Report
General Summary
Recap: After drinking whatever was within the ewer, Thornelius shifted into a new form. Thornelius became Riftborn. Somehow still with his memories, Thornelius looked back to the party, who were both confused about his transformation, and relieved that he didn't just suddenly get them all killed. With the mission's end in sight, everyone rushed back to Northal, and to Jhin. He still seemed quite agitated when they'd returned, but all of the tension in his body language washed away when the party handed over the ewer to him; reverting back to his "nice guy" persona. Feeling much more relieved, Jhin presented the party with their reward, one comparably sizable to the amount of effort they expended getting him this artifact: 1500 platinum pieces. Jhin also felt like as Frictimen had played an integral role in the party's success, he was willing to finally enter Northal into the Heart War, allying with Trinum and the Bloodfire Compact. As both an offer to take a small vacation, and get Frictimen's latest diplomatic success back to Trinum, Jhin sent the party off to do some shopping and relaxing in Trious; with the added goal of stopping by Trinum's captial, Blackwater Castle, afterwards. Spending gold on magic items, materials, and favorable company, the party finally got a small break after the chaos of the last couple of days. Not after long though, they got their stuff together, and traveled via cadgegap over to Blackwater Castle. This city was surprising, not only in its griminess, but also in its complete lack of organization. Much of Blackwater Castle is simply just houses sprawled throughout the forest, with a few key notable military outposts along the riverside. Regardless, the party stepped forward to the titular castle, getting ready to deliver this message of Northal's allegiance.
