Session 36: Key to the Universe Report

General Summary

Recap: Before they step into the Concordant Opposition, they hear Eleonora calling out to them from the front steps of the temple's courtyard; back from her conversation with Jhin. She's baffled by the party's reckless curiosity, but after hearing what the party has learned of this place, she plays along for now. Everyone eventually decides to step past the precipice, and travel to this fantastical plane of pure neutrality. Its appearance is different for each person who enters, but a few notable landmarks remain consistent between each person's perception. It's not long before Thornelius sells his soul to some bystander devil, which eventually leads to the party having to fight said devil to get his soul back, albeit in the form of fiendish currency now.   Finally, the party settles on returning home, with Jhin waiting for them on the other side. He's curious to know what they've found on the other side, and after hearing the details, is suddenly extremely adamant in the party getting themselves inside, and recovering whatever's in there. Perplexed by his disposition, but not really in a position to decline, the party begins trying to formulate some plan on how they're going to get past the temple's stalwart defender. During this planning, Jhin leaves with Meta, but Sha discovers that his shadow has been left behind, and is spying on them. She immediately attacks it, for concern of her personal goals, but that only leads the Shadow to decimate most of the party; with Rhea needing to plead to Jhin to have it recalled. It's clear that the party still is in no position to stand up to Jhin, so they have to figure out what's they best shot at defeating Hlín in single combat. As they ruminate, they remember their dragon turtle ally still needs to repay his debts to them.   Still, before they enact their plan, there's some shopping to be done, some loose ends tied, and some much needed rest. Meanwhile, Rainer's off to get the assistance he needs for his people back in Riverville, disappearing from the party's purview once again.
