04 The Drunkard's Tale

General Summary

After Arlayana leaves to go back to the bar, Chip announces to the party that he will go see his family. The rest of them go to the bar and start crafting a letter to the King.

I am Belladonna Blackstone of the Nul Turum clans, Princess of the Dwarves of the Kingdom of Wirenth. I seek your council to discuss diplomatic affairs.
After writing the letter, Aramys goes outside to find the mailbox to send it, during that time the others go upstairs and discuss matters amongst themselves. After Aramys gets back, they go back downstairs and have a Therapy Session with Arlayana, who explains to both Belladonna and Elzador that they are total assholes (she explains in a loving way).   Aramys catches sight of the Kenku bard and goes over to start a conversation, from which hilarity ensues.   Later, Aramys finds a new mission leaflet on the board in the GGG and asks Arlayana more about it. She tells her that a ship captain is looking for her missing crewmate, who stole from the ship before leaving it.   Elzador decides to take a walk outside and look for a guardsman. After failing to charm him, he creates a magical "encounter" with a speeding cart to escape him. Becoming invisible, he gets away and manages to not get thrown in a drunk tank.   In the morning they wake up to a tray of cookies that Chip sent them - his mom baked some.   They went to the ship, Little Lorelei, where the captain told them that her first mate had run off with some treasure. Andrew, the first mate, has an eyepatch, has ginger hair, and is good at telling where the cardinal directions are. He is bookish and nerdy, and a druid on the ship discovered Andrew went to see a turtle person in a shop before running off.   The captain recommends the Blue Pearl to Elzador as a ship that might have magical artifacts, even though it's quite overpriced.   The party goes to see Liam to ask about Andrew. He says that a man with an eyepatch did go through, he bought a scroll that makes scrying on him impossible. Speaking of scrying, Elzador asks Liam to scry on his necklace for him. It's in a vault with other similar necklaces. The vault is in Arcadia.   The party then goes after Andrew, who, given Liam's educated guess, is on his way out of Arcadia, on the one and only road out of the city - he wouldn't want to leave through the port. The party gets Chip and Betsy and goes riding.   They soon reach a campfire in the woods, where Andrew is currently resting. They almost come to a battle, but Elzador swoops in at the last minute with his magic and commands the sailor to come with them willingly. They decide to not take rest, and go to the Little Lorelei at once. They do not bring back all of the treasures, since they stole one item from the bag. Therefore instead of 200GP they earn 175GP. Everyone gets 50GP, with 25 left aside for Chip.   When they reach the GGG, they're told that a letter has come for them, bearing the royal seal of the King of Killahead.
Dear Belladonna,
Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I would love to meet with you and discuss any ways I could be of help to you.
Looking forward to meeting you,
— Kloran
