SESSION 3 TWIB Part 2: REVOLUTION Report

General Summary

While Cassia and Charlotte were still having tea and talking in the library, Lucius grabbed Doc and the others to tell them about someone he had noticed spying on Charlotte's conversation with Aspenpool (completely ignoring the fact that he was, as well). Doc suggested that maybe it was someone Charlotte purposefully put there herself, but Lucius explained that the person (who appeared to be a man) quickly jumped out the open window without anyone noticing once he noticed Lucius. Unfortunately, Lucius couldn't see the person's face.   After finishing her talk with Cassia, Doc, Lucius, and JFK sat down to talk with Charlotte about the matter (While Fable and Asphur secretly listened in to the conversation since Asphur couldn't find any books on the Empire in the library). She did not place the mysterious person herself, and knew by now that many of the nobles in her court employed their own spies. It also wasn't unusual for people to end up...."mysteriously" dead in Winter Court politics. However, it did shock her that the intruder was able to get past all of her guards and other defenses. She had Frost fetch Wren and Storm Crow to let them know about the spy.   Once Storm had investigated the area, he reported that there were in fact traces of footprints in the dust on the high rafters of the room she and Aspenpool had met in. However, the spy left nothing else behind that could lead to any identification. (Unknown to Charlotte, Storm was hiding one clue/piece of evidence from her and Wren, but he got a NAT 20 on Deception, so no one could notice that he was internally rattled or upset.) They had a discussion about increasing security and the threat of someone possibly trying to assassinate Charlotte.   Afterwards Charlotte told Wren to hurry and pack up so that he could travel with Doc and the other to her "uncle" Eirwen's mansion--the only "safe" place she could think for them to stay at while a spy was running around. Doc and the others noticed Fable's presence as he was hiding as a potted plant in the library, and asked him if he wanted to join the party. He said yes. Charlotte then teleported them all to the mansion, spoke with Eirwen, then teleported back to the castle--which caused her to throw up into a bucket Storm already had prepared for her return.   At the mansion, Eirwen told the others they were free to stay as long as they didn't go in the West Wing of the mansion. Leo, in his ghost form, explored the West Wing library--throwing books off the shelf to try and find a secret room. He didn't find one until he looked behind an old portrait that opened a door in the wall. The room he found was filled with old instruments, including a violin with a spell on it that kept it looking new. He played it horribly, got bored, and left.   Exploring the West Wing more, Leo found what was likely Eirwen's room that had a half-finished painting let on an easel, and an open window with a solid ice statue of a woman. It was incredibly detailed and seemed to be what Eirwen was painting a portrait of. Leo finished the painting for him (with a high roll in a cubism style), and eventually went back downstairs with the others after putting the library's books back.
