Marauder's Lament

Hope, Plastiq and Zoetrope, along with Bordek, are chasing down a thief that has been targeting gem and gold exchanges and seeming to vanish into thin air. Plastiq is chasing the suspect, a woman with purple hair and using high-tech weapons, across the rooftops while Hope, Zoetrope and Bordek chase along the street level. The woman, Marauder, seems to be talking to someone in a language Plastiq has never heard before and cannot understand just before she turns around and fires on Plastique. The shots do no serious damage so they are probably designed to stun a target. Plastiq grabs for the bag of gems and gold and wrestles with Marauder to try to take it away but they both end up falling over the edge of the building. Hope round the corner, taking a shot at the woman but misses her. Marauder seems to call someone, perhaps backup. Plastiq and Marauder continue to struggle for the bag as Zoetrope creates the illusion of several PRIMUS agents arriving. During the struggle, the bag rips sending gems, gold and other valuables all over the street just as Blue Griffon arrives on a jet bike. Hope convinces the crowd not to snatch up the valuables with some assistance with Bordek's strong personality. Blue Griffon decides to get themselves out of there and grabs Marauder and puts her on the back of the bike. Hope tries to use a gas arrow but only manages to place several citizens to sleep. Plastiq still has a hold on Marauder and is pulled along as Blue Griffon takes off. Marauder reaches into a pocket and pulls out a disk of some sort but before she can use it, Plastiq takes it from her but she accidentally activates it and disappears. Hope fires a web arrow while Zoetrope creates more PRIMUS agents, this time air cavalry agents. This forces the villains to surrender, but before they can be fully taken into custody, Blue Griffon pulls a disk from his pocket and puts it on Marauder and activates it, making her disappear. Blue Griffon is taken into custody.   Plastiq finds herself, apparently, on board a space ship or perhaps a space station with a disembodied voiced speaking to her in the same unknown language Marauder was speaking. Just as Plastiq manages to get the voice to speak to her in English, Marauder appears. There is a lot of back-and-forth but eventuallly Plastiq releases Marauder from the handcuffs that Zoetrope put on her. Plastiq contacts the rest of the team and explains that she and Marauder are aboard the Lady in Red. Zoetrope determines that the spaceship is currently submerged in the Hudson River. The ship is in need of repairs and Marauder and Blue Griffon have been stealing valuables to get the parts and repairs they need to make the ship spaceworthy again. With Zoetrope's help, the heroes manage to talk Marauder into requesting "asylum" from M.E.T.E. Marauder agrees and the heroes help them get in contact with the agency.   A day or two later, the heroes get a call from Wanda Maximoff asking them to meet her at an address not far from campus. When they arrive, they find themselves in front of a small office building that has crime scene tape and UNTIL and PRIMUS notifications. She invites them inside where they meet Nicolette Fury, the head of a division of UNTIL, and Nancy Rothschild. Fury offers the heroes the use of the former VIPER nest as a headquarters in return for a few missions for UNTIL. Nancy reveals herself to be Natasha Romanov, the Avenger known as the Black Widow. They are also introduced to their liaison, Thomas Adale, a "friend" of Hope's. The heroes agree and Fury says she will make the necessary arrangements to help get the base fixed up.
