Session 11 Report

General Summary

The adventure started with Yato learning of a travelling wizard who may be able to sell spells to his sister, Yami. When they met him he offered to teach the spell "Message" in exchange for an escort South to Stousey's Grove to protect him from the rumored dragon in the area. During the escort they instead ran into Balkul, the dragon*born* fighter. While the misunderstanding was being settled Yami came to realize that the wizard man had actually dealt with her previous slavers buying wizard books, presumably to sell them under his guise of a retired wizard.   They knocked out the imposter wizard and started heading back to the farm where they would get more questions out of him about Yami's slavers. During the journey the party came across Millicent, a human girl who seemed to act as a sort of guardian of the woods. With her old home burned down she demanded someone pay for the crimes committed against the forest, maybe in the form of any extra food the party might have laying around. With promise of food for Millicent, and a promise of coin for Balkul, the too were easily swayed to come back to the farm with the unconscious faux wizard lying in the back of the carriage with them.   While nearing the edge of South Firnvale's forests a pin popped out of the carriage wheel bringing the party to a halt as the wheel rolled off without the carriage. With the carriage being too heavy under load for Phlem's minions to carry it they had to improvise a solution. During their brainstorming an owlbear cub ran across the party, putting them between the cub and its parents that walked out of the woods. Failing to calm the situation the party was forced to deal with the parents but were able to spare the cub. While the now dead parent owlbears were busy being butchered by Phlem and Yato, Millicent tried to coax the cub with rations and messages. Attempting to convince it that she was its new mother with her "Speak with Animals" spell, it turned around and saw Balkul instead, creating a bond in the impressionable young cub.
