Session 2: Saving Floon and Becoming Houseowners

General Summary

After waking up well rested in the office of the Zhentarim warehouse, we started to investigate our surroundings. Soon enough we were tenfold richer after finding 4 expensive paintings and 15 silver bars.   In addition to looting, we vigorously interrogated the Kenku we had tied up. The Kenku confirmed that the Zhents had Floon in their custody and in a place something to do with yellow eyes. Unfortunately he did not reveal the exact location, so we started to cook up a plan to release him and sneakily follow him. But finalising our plan was disrupted by the unexpected arrival of City Guard, who also took away our Kenku and with that our plan.   Fortunately Renaer offered to introduce us to his friend Mirt who could help us. We visited Mirt's home where he sent word with his stone of sending and, after a while, received information about Floon’s location. He was being held in tunnels, the entrance of which was actually near the warehouse, so off we went to the warehouse direction again.   In the sewer tunnels Caiyra applied her stealth skills and walked ahead of others, sneakily and single-handedly also defeating a Gazer guard. She further managed to sneak past a goblin outpost, however others were more clumsy and were caught in the crossfire of arrows coming from 2 well-hidden goblins. But with Kara's insults and others' precisely targeted sharp weapons, defeating the goblins was a piece of cake. After the outpost we met more Xanathar enemies, Krentz from yesterday's bar fight, a durgar and a gray ooze. After defeating them we reached a big room where we finally saw Floon but unfortunately in a bad shape. A half-orc was stomping on Floon, and a mind flayer left its throne and threw an Intellect Devourer to the ground near Floon to consume his brains. Fortunately sending the half-orc, devourer and a bandit to the afterlife wasn't too difficult and we were able to save Floon. Kara healed his wounds with some mellow melodies and he was feeling better already.   We of course could not leave the room without looting, so we did our best at rumbling through the bodies and the throne and several other rooms, and not without a result. Tolm found a spellbook from Grum'shar, while others found silver and gold pieces here and there and 2 potions of healing hidden behind the throne. A connecting room also revealed an eye-catching pedestal with a magical circular opening. We did try to put everything we had available to the pedestal's opening, but to no avail.   We left the room through a secret door and found our way back to the Yawning Portal together with Floon. There we met Volo, who was happy to get his friend back alive and well, but who had run into some financial difficulties and was not able to provide us the exact gold reward that he had promised. Instead he offered us an old worn-out house, Trollskull Manor, which had been a bar and an inn once. After several minutes considering, everyone but Caiyra accepted his offer and so we became the owners of the manor.   As the manor needed to be fixed up and we did not want to put all of our own money on that, we got an investment from Mirt, with one condition that the bar would be known as Mirt's bar in the future. We also took on some other activities: visited Opera and the Yawning Portal, climbed a mountain to reach an unwelcoming monk, bought some more trinkets from the Old Xoblob shop and upgraded our armour, so that we would be even better prepared for the next adventures waiting for us.
