The Amber Temple and the Amber Vault played quite a role in my CoS game. One of the best sessions that I've ever been a part of is when character conflict came to a head and 3 characters were killed from fighting each other. This happened after, and because several characters had taken Dark Gifts from some of the amber sarcophagi, and they did great jobs of roleplaying. I also loved the idea in the conclusion of the adventure, that even if Strahd is killed, the Dark Powers keep him alive and bring him back to rule again. But, one of the characters that 'died' I resurrected by the Dark Powers, because he was power hungry enough to challenge Strahd for the rule of Barovia and I thought the Dark Powers would want to see this happen. I had the character perform the same ritual that Strahd performed in this amber vault to become a vampire, and after the new party killed Strahd, I had this NPC come and claim the throne instead.
  There is so much cool lore built into the Amber Temple and it was very cool to play around with it and tie the characters backstories to it.
