In this page, you will learn about the structure of an article and how to make things appear where you want them to. If you want to learn about articles in general, check the guide to articles instead!
General article structure
In broad strokes, the content of an article article is divided into two areas: the main body (left and center of the page) and the side bar or side panel (a narrower section on the right). These areas have some predefined fields, but they are also fully customizable by you.
Below there's a preview of an example article; each area explains how to add content to it. All mentions to the "Section" tab refer to the tab at the top of the advanced article editor.
Article title
Subheading: You will find the subheading in Sections > Header sectionsCredits: The credits are also in Header sections!
Everything that appears here is part of the main text box, at the top of the article editor. We call this vignette, and you can write absolutely anything you want here, including headers to make your own custom article structure.
Template prompts
If you're using the optional prompts of an article template, they will appear here, under the vignette (or in the sidebar, depending on the prompt). Remember that these prompts are 100% optional; if you leave them empty, nothing will appear here.
Footnotes
If you want to add additional content at the bottom of this area after all the article template-specific prompts, you can do so with the Footnotes field. You will find it under Sections > Footer sections.
If you are a Master of the Guild (or an above rank), you can also use a full-width footer! This footer spans the entire width of the article (i.e. after both the main body and the sidebar have ended). You will find it in Sections > Footer sections.
Other sections
There's a couple more sections in the Footer Sections sub-tab, which are useful if you're building a community around your world:
- Author's notes: These will appear above the comments box. It's a great place to talk to your community about the article without adding "meta comments" in the article itself!
- Comment feedback placeholder: anything here will appear as a placeholder in the text box to write a new comment.
Finally, the Footer sections tab also has fields to link a variety of content into the article: RPG blocks, content trees, and image galleries.
