Feature guide to the autolinker

If an article mentions multiple other articles, use the Autolinker to link all of them with a single click! Here's how it works.

Want to link a single article? Use the mention system instead!

Using the autolinker

To access the autolinker, edit an article. How you launch the Autolinker changes depending on your editor:

Advanced Editor (Euclid)

Click the " Autolinker" button in the toolbar. The Autolinker will appear as a modal window on top of the editor.

Visual Editor

Type /autolinker to activate the Autolinker command. The Autolinker panel will appear inside the editor.

The autolinker will find all words and phrases in the article that can be links to other articles. For example, if you have an article called "Banana Monsters" and the phrase "Banana Monsters" appears in the article, the Autolinker will detect it as a potential link. Then, it will let you choose what to do:

  • Replace All: Replaces all instances of all article titles for a link to that article. For example, if the article mentions "Banana Monsters" 10 times, it will create 10 links.
  • Replace First of Each: Replaces only the first instance of each article title. For example, even if there are 10 mentions of "Banana Monsters", the Autolinker will only link the first one.
  • Selective Replace (Advanced Editor only): this option will walk you through each link, letting you choose whether you want to link it or not, as well as customizing the anchor text.

If you close/cancel the Autolinker without pressing any of the above three buttons, no changes will be made.
