Text signalising Icon appearing where it should not be

Sometimes when I press on for example buttons there appears the symbol that is used to signal where you are writing in a text field in places that do not have a text field. I realized this when i pressed the button in "Advanced Tools" for "Tables". The symbol appears within the Icon of the "Tables" section. Something similar was the case when I was creating a new Article within a "Organisations" Article, the Icon signalising where i am typing appeared outside the Text box where I would put the title of the new and linked Article.

Steps to Reproduce

Open the advanced Tools Press on the Icon for Tables multiple times The Icon should appear within the Icon

I am really sorry but from your description I do not understand what you mean and we haven't seen or had anything like that reported before - can you show us a screenshot of what you are seeing?

How can I send this to you?

You can link to an image from an image uploading website, or upload it on World Anvil and link the image here

I hope this helps. The "issue" is that underneath the icon the writing thing appears. Im very sorry that I cant find the right word for it, making this unnecessarily difficult.

Do you mean you get a cursor pointer on top of the icons of the sidebar?

Uwa_19 @ 19 Apr, 2024 02:20:50

Yes

Is this your mouse cursor, or does that cursor stay after you move your mouse away? If the latter, does it disappear when you click somewhere else on the page? If it does, then it sounds like a browser extension may be trying to make the page content editable.   Do you have any extensions like Magic Editor or Tamper Monkey installed in your browser? There is no input or anything there, so the text cursor should only be possible if something is adding a certain flag to the page content - and that usually indicates a live HTML/CSS editing browser extension.

The cursor stays after I move the mouse and it does disappear. What you are describing does sound a lot like what is happening, although even now that i have removed all extensions it is still happening. But because this problem now rather appears to be clientside and not a bug, I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your efforts to help me with this. I will eventually find out what the problem is.
