The WA home page loads fine, log in screen either takes minutes to load or doesn’t load at all. Same happens once logged in and attempt to open dashboard or any other page. Tried on two computers, both with Windows 11 and using Edge browser. Works fine using Safari on an iPhone. All done through my home WiFi.

Happens consistently for the past 4 weeks.

Hello there - sadly we cannot take responsibility for Microsoft's shortcomings on modern browsers <3 On Windows We do suggest using Chrome, firefox or Brave

I don’t think this was advertised anywhere prior to my purchase. Is there any testing done on MS Edge?

Dimitris @ 30 May, 2024 02:28:23 Assignee

Yes we do test most of our components in EDGE, in fact all our new components are primarily tested on Edge but still EDGE can have issues - In most cases it has to do with local configuration (for example the browser I am currently using it works perfectly)   To expand to my answer, slow loading of pages can happen for a variety of reasons like

  • local network speed (but that can be discounted since you said that on another device on the same network all is good),
  • Loaded Extensions / Plugins that cause slowness to all or some websites (a very common one for this can be ad blockers)
  • Old version of browsers
  • Local configuration (like DNS rerouting due to firewalls or blocked addresses (for example the computer or router blocking a website or a component. For example if for some reason FontAwesome's (the icons you see around the website) is not loaded slowly that might mean that it is bring throttled or blocked)
  • It can be one or more of the above but sadly I am not there to check it for you, we are a website so our responsibility is to know that World Anvil works in all browsers we support (and yes Edge is included in this) but local issues is something we have no control over.   I suggested Chrome, Firefox or Brave to you because historically they have less to no issues.
  • You can of course try to clean up your browser and disable / remove / exclude World Anvil from AdBlockers and that might fix your issue
  • Does this make sense?

Thank you Dimitris, I greatly appreciate the in-depth explanation. Yes, this all makes sense. My concern is that without any changes being made to my laptop, these issues began around the time of the denial of services attack has never recovered. I installed Brave and will give that a try.   Thanks again. Hope you're having a fantastic weekend! LJ
