Hello there SerendipitousFailure   I cannot reproduce this issue and I asked 5 people and all of them can see their word count changing. Can you please show me the structure of your manuscript to see if there is an issue there ? (a screenshot will do)

Have you written any words in your manuscript since then? - This wordcount at this point updates the next day is something was written the day before.

I have written things several times over several days, yes

I entered more text today, and will update this bug if it has not updated by tomorrow

It did not update

Looking at your screenshot everything you write you write int your "Research Folders" . This is not the folder of your manuscript (the one that has the name of your manuscript. words written outside of the actual document directly under the manuscript or in the first level under a folder do not count.   Even worst it looks like you somehow moved your whole manuscript under the research folder? The manuscript folder needs to be on the top level of your work, not inside the Research Folder.
