Archery Contest in 100 Worlds | World Anvil

Archery Contest

This is a once/per festivel event. Often the top three teams have a final round to decalre the victors.
3-man teams shoot bows to get the highest number of targets.   Setup. (See Common Game Terms/Rules)
  • Each team has 3 members (one is a captain). Each PC participant is a captain.
  • For each NPC roll 1d4 for their dex mod (they have +2 Prof).
  • Each team member begins with a Friendly disposition.
  • Play.
Each team takes turns shooting at each target.
  • The first target is AC 10
  • The second target is AC 14
  • The third target is AC 18
  • An NPC roll of 1 means the shooters bow string breaks and they are out of the competition.   A PC roll of 9 or less means a team-mate's confidence in you slips:
  • Define one of your NPC team-mates - they become Neutral towards you.
  • if already defined and Neutral they question your ability and become Hostile towards you.
  • if already defined and Hostile they suspect you're throwing the game and have Hatred towards you.
  • if already defined and Hatred they throw down their bow and threaten physical harm - the situation is broken up and your team is disqualified.
  • A "hit" is worth 1 point (2 points if it hit by 5 higher than the AC) A 20 is worth 3 points and resets all team members dispositions to Friendly   Risk. At least one ex-team mate is convinced you were throwing the contest - you've made an enemy.   Reward. The team with the highest number of points wins (shoot another round if there is a tie).
  • The winning NPC teammates gain the Ally disposition towards their PC captain (name them if unnamed) - this may come in helpful someday.
  • The PC team captain is given a potion of healing and the team a monetary reward.
