Blue Portage

Blue Portage is a town on "The Loop" a road that circles through Lorcaster, Blue Portage, Wingrealm, Ridgebluff and Dragonhorn. It is one of the stops on the The Loop Merchants route. It is home to roughly 5,000 with an economy based on raw materials (lumber, mining, wild game).

The journey to Blue Portage from Lorcaster is about 12 miles. The trek is mostly up-hill along a well traveled road to a mountain pass. After the pass, the last 20 minutes of the road is downhill and once crossed over the Swift River via a stone bridge. The old bridge was destroyed by a pair of hill giants. A new, more-resiliant and more-definsible, bridge is being constructed but has only just begun. A guide rope allows for able pedestrians to cross the Swift, however carts and wagons must travel an hour out of the way and fruther down stream to a more suitable fording.

The city is constructed on the side of the valley below the next ridge and alongside the Swift river. The elevation of the town also reflects the price of real estate - the higher up you go the more wealthy the citizenry.
