Session 21 - The Abbess ain’t so Bad Ass

After opening the door an Earth Elemental engages the party. The elemental manages to land a crit on Thanatos, but his adamantine armor negates the crit. The fight goes to the party with only Thanatos needing to take a healing potion and Olivine landing the final blow. The room is explored.   It seems the elemental was released from a gem, some treasure is and a key are found. The desk is devoid of papers and pens, but contains otherwise assorted value-less clutter. The barred window had a latching allowing it to be opened. Taraxacam leaps through the window into the overgrown garden area where he sees 4 monks, a blind woman (Hellenrae), an Earth Priest and the previously captured and release Deureguar (Azlin).   The blind woman (who turns out to be the Sacred Stone Monastery Abbess) asks “Is that one of them?” And one of the monks reply “Yes”. “Eliminate them” is her response. Battle takes place with the Deureguar on the side of the PCs. However two Gargoyles join the fight chasing after Taraxacam who tries to gain the high ground.   The fight lasts 4-5 rounds at best with Hellenrae failing to land a single blow. She is surrounded and Josef offers her to surrender, she responds “Kill me, Life is miserable.”. Josef leaves her be but Knack finishes her off. A monk is the last to go down hit with a spell from Josef while attempting to flee.   The party collects some loot including the bracers worn by Hellenrae (which apparently need some sort of earth ritual to be formed to be used:

Name: Stoneheart Gauntlets   Description: The Stoneheart Gauntlets are a pair of ancient, weathered, iron gauntlets with intricate engravings of earth symbols and veins of green gemstones running through them. When worn, they meld seamlessly with the wearer's hands, as if they were forged specifically for them.   Abilities:   Earthen Strike: The gauntlets grant the wearer the ability to infuse their unarmed strikes with the power of the earth. When you make an unarmed strike, you can choose to add 1d6 bludgeoning damage to the attack. This damage increases to 2d6 at 6th level, 3d6 at 11th level, and 4d6 at 16th level. This bonus damage is considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity.   Stonewalker's Resilience: While wearing the Stoneheart Gauntlets, the wearer gains resistance to all damage types from natural sources, such as rocks, earth, and plants. This includes damage from falling rocks, thorns, and entangling roots.   Earthshaker's Embrace: Once per long rest, the wearer can slam the ground with the gauntlets, causing a localized earthquake. All creatures within a 15-foot radius must make a Strength saving throw (DC 15) or be knocked prone. Additionally, the area becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute as the earth trembles. This ability is particularly effective in underground environments.   Stone Ward: As a reaction, when the wearer is targeted by a ranged attack, they can invoke the gauntlets' power to summon a protective stone barrier. The wearer gains +2 to their AC against the attack. Once used, this ability cannot be used again until after a short or long rest.   Earth's Guidance: The Stoneheart Gauntlets grant the wearer proficiency in the Nature skill and advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks related to navigating and surviving in natural environments.'   Lane casts a Tiny Hut spell and the players get a Long Rest. Luke copies spells, Knack inspectes the Bracers.
