Soul Forge

The Soul Forge was a gnome research project based on the technology used by the ancients to create Archons . The gnomes used the Soul Forge to place souls into mechanical constructs using a necromancy-type of "technology".

Once the Soul Forge technology was perfected they began to build and sell the creations (known as the Soulbound race). When the other governments learned that this was akin to slavery, many demanded the project be stopped and the research destroyed. Under great economic and political pressure, the gnomes finally yielded and shut down the project.
