Almost everyone knows about the assassination of Julius Caesar in the Theatre of Pompey. What they don't know are the circumstances leading up to his assassination. Truth be told, neither did I, that is until I did sore research. Well I may need to fill others in, but I think I shall attempt to do it in point form.

First we need to cover the salient points:
  Life 12 July 100 BC – 15 March 44 BC
  Priesthood in 85 BC he was proclaimed High Preist of Jupiter, marrying Cornelia
  Outcast 81 BC he was stripped of inheritance, dowry, and priesthood this led to his next stage of life
  Orator and Legal Advocate 78 BC witht the death of Sulia he felt safe in returning to Rome but without his inheritance lacked the fund to do so. He became a legal advocate and was known as a great orator with his high voice.
Military Career 69 BC he finally returned to Rome, choosing to enter the military and becoming one of the Triumvarite. 63 BC he was elected to the post pontifex maximus. 62 BC after serving a year as praetor he was appointed governer of Hispania Ulterior and statioined in the Iberian Peninsula.
  Consul and Continued Military 60 BC he was elected Consul for 59 BC. His govenorship was extended by 5 years after his Consulship. 55 BC saw the pacification of Northern Gaul.
Civil War 50 BC Caesar was ordered to abandoned his troops and return to Rome. 49 BC saw Caesar cross the Rubicon with one legion. 48 BC saw the defeat of Pompey and and his being declared dictator again for one year.
  Dictatorship 45 BC he was declared dictator for a period of ten years. 44BC he was declared "Dictator in perpetuity" one month before his assassination on March 15 44 BC


Facts:

  Historically it was said that Caesar was stabbed fifty-seven times, the actual fact was he was only stabbed twenty-three times.
 

In Media:

  The history of media for this includes works such as Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar", the movies "Carry on Cleopatra", "Caesar Must Die", "The Last Legion", "Spartacus". There were also TV shows such as "Killing God: The Assassination of Julius Caesar" and "Rome".
 

Myth and Misconceptions:

  There are many things which have been said to be true but as far as anyone can tell. Caesar went to a fortune teller who warned him to "Beware the Ides of March", some even said it was a group of witches.
