Operations conducted by both conventional and non-conventional forces have little effect on the Taliban's control of Herat.
Despite widespread and constant military actions conducted by both the 10th Mountain Division and 3d Marine Raider Battalion the Taliban maintain a firm grip on the City. Multiple prsence patrols, humanitarian missions in conjunction with the many combat operations are not enough to combat the tactics and reinforcement being employed by the Taliban forces.
