Davy and Swab

Davy is almost always seen accompanied by his Hozen companion and best friend Swab, and the origin story of this dynamic duo of crooks is surrounded by mystery. However, the most believed variation of the story is that Davy purchased Swab from a pandaren slaver in Booty Bay. Having worked the docks of various trading ports such as Gadgetzan, Ratchet, and Booty Bay, Davy’s early life was spent as a Steamwheedle dockmaster. When a side hustle of smuggling and fencing goods started to make him some serious coin, he realized that there was potential in piracy… and set out to start a crew. Davy met and teamed up with Mak’dor, who at the time was a runaway mercenary from the Copper Street Solutions looking to assemble a fall-back plan for Blonzy and his employees as they neared exile from Orgrimmar and the Horde. "Captain" Coinblade had a ship and a crew, so Davy sucked in his pride and joined at the entry-level, his sights set on the Captaincy from the start. The eventual and unfortunate death of Blonzy put Davy into the First Mate’s position under the new Captain Goldsail, Blonzy’s board-appointed next in line. In this position, Davy loyally served the needs of the crew – acting as a mouthpiece between them and the new Captain, whom he respected greatly. From the First Mate position, Davy ventured into networking, diligently working with the Defias and Loyalist partners of the Corsairs and forming “friendships”. Loyalty in this line of work, however, is a fool’s game, so Davy finds comfort in trusting nobody other than Swab –the two of them always looking for that next opportunity to improve their position. Davy would eventually fall victim to the conceit of his greed, now equipped with a Philosopher's Stone – he became a crazed Transmuter. Everything he touched turned to gold, and, eventually… he did too. All that remains of First Mate Davy Plunderfuse is a golden statue of his likeness stored onboard Neptulon’s Revenge, which Swab now stoically defends.
The ritual itself wasn't stable enough, Goldsail had to find another way and so she did, she sacrificed herself to obtain the curse, a transfer so Davy could be free.
