Gloomspire Enclave

Close after the shattering of the sky -- forces of both Horde and Northwatch were concerned about a gloomy radiance encroaching into the eastern coast of Kalimdor. The Saurfang Legion, then ordered by Centurion Urk Bloodknuckle to investigate the trouble the Ogres of Stonemaul were facing, encountered a great Ogre Necromancer donning the banner of an unknown clan. Hordes of undead were razing the population, intending to convert them for their foul Scourge masters. Luckily, the Horde was able to repel the attack -- and ended up facing against a risen black dragon, the insidious Ereburion. With his dying breath, the undead beast ushered out a concerning sentence. “The Gloom Spire will rise”.   … weeks later, far off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh, a dim shaded islet is discovered, radiating with the darkest and sinister energies Azeroth can offer. Seemingly out of nowhere, a dark magical spire shot out into the skies above, filling it with dreadful darkness. Practisers of dark magics, warlocks, and necromancers alike sensed this powerful disturbance within the force of Death, and it caught the attention of both Alliance and Horde. Ships of each set sail to halt this mad energy from rising any further! To their dismay, however, a ghastly pirate vessel emerged from a dense fog around the seas, opening fire to shipwrecking both Horde and Alliance on the newfound island. Believing the crash to be the fault of their rivals, the faction forces clashed steel against one another until the true horrors of Gloomspire escaped the shadowy depths of the long lost islet.   With each day passing, the power of the spire radiated with a new enigma, from a pitch-black sky to necromancy lingering in the very air … both Horde and Alliance were starting to realize the situation they’ve caught themselves in. The clock was ticking. If they didn’t get out as soon as possible, they’d either turn to ash thanks to a bombardment -- or worse, be claimed as a servant of Death.       Later on, the forces of the Banshee Loyalists were able to research more regarding an ancient evil slumbering deep in the abandoned mines of the Gloomspire Enclave. Residing in an old Qiraji vault, they set out to free the powerful figure known as the “Darkbringer” -- a Dreadlich bearing the power of the beyond. A few ritual tablets were the key to restoring this vile menace, and through both trickery and effort, they were able to gather all the stone tablets required to unleash the Darkbringer back into Azeroth. In a mighty ritual, Nhazzur was freed, pledging his word to aid his saviors in the “Age of Shadow” that has befallen Azeroth since the shattering of Icecrown’s sky.   … simultaneously, the horrific being slumbering deep beneath the island itself was awakened thanks to the tricking meddling of a certain shadow-loyal Grimtotem Tauren. A blanket of void energy encroached from within the core of the island, slowly consuming its entire surface. Thankfully, both Horde, Alliance, and Loyalists were able to escape in time. Unfortunately, the island and all the secrets with it were lost.   With Gruggosh'ar, the Horde camp in ruins, a valiant Ogron figure stood back and gave its best to survive amidst the void horrors the island was shrouded with. As Centurion Bloodknuckle promised during the Horde's war meeting, a sky vessel was sent out to bombard the Gloomspire Enclave with a destructive mana-bomb to rid it of the festering void infestation. A devastating explosion, visible from all the way in Orgrimmar, has put an end to the horrors for the time being -- little remains of the islet itself in the wake of the explosion."   After the Alliance manages to escape safely, thanks to a Gnomeregan rescue party, Knight Champion Carlos Stormcloak is made aware of the horrors unleashed within the core of the island itself. Believing it'd be of no issue to the Alliance as a whole, seeing as the spire will no longer spread across the continent, the Knight Champion declares the expedition as "better than he thought those guys would do". The Northwatch Expeditionary Unit will be busy with missions across the continent of Kalimdor for the time being -- ensuring this is truly no greater threat rising.   Deceiving both Horde and Alliance -- those loyal to Sylvanas Windrunner achieved what they've come for, and even more than that. With Nhazzur the Darkbringer brought back to the plain of the living, the Dread-Lich decided to accompany the Rotgarde and their allies into the Necropolis of Sylvarus, serving as a vessel of information of the lands beyond the veil. A devastating victory to the forces of death - truly, a horror the factions will not forget all too easily.   Despite the victory of the Loyalists and the loss of the island, there was still a glimmer of hope. A staff of great power had been secured from the ogres by the Ebon Onslaught, which may be the key to defeating the Lich. Its use against him had no effect while he was on the island, and it had been drained of its energy.   … it only needs to be restored.   To be continued.
