Lady Vaelene Moonsong

“By the Sun and by the Stars, Justice for the true Highborne shall be met. As the new age of elven civilization is being ushered, never forget, unity through tradition and strength through order, Quel’vala Thenos, Dawn and Dusk.”

Vaelene of House Moonsong, is a Nightborne known for her unwavering will and fierce loyalty to Suramar and Silvermoon and her uncompromising ways towards any who she would perceive as enemies of the twin nations. Born the second daughter of Raelene and Fentharel Moonsong, Vaelene can trace her family’s lineage to ancient Shandaral, a Highborne city that was active during the peak of the Kaldorei empire in the land today known as ‘Crystalsong Forest’. In Suramar, House Moonsong was one of the few known noble houses of Suramar which stuck to the old beliefs in the Kaldorei Goddess, Elune. In her early childhood, Vaelene was educated on the worship of the Goddess, as well as the history of the ancient Kaldorei empire. She took a great liking to both subjects, the latter especially causing her to hold great pride for her heritage and the achievements of the Highborne civilization of old. However, when Vaelene had to leave her sheltered house the fact that her family still worshipped Elune, came to haunt her causing Vaelene’s early adulthood to be fraught with hardship. As she was ridiculed for her family’s archaic practices, Vaelene grew to resent her house and its Goddess.   Before long, Vaelene found herself enlisting to the Duskwatch, eager to prove the Moonsong’s worth to Suramar and to clear her family’s name of shame. During the period of training to become a Spellblade, Vaelene always strived for excellence and perfection of her art, she would train diligently but always was somewhat of a hothead, acting in some spite towards those who ridiculed her house and those who she perceived as foolish. Vaelene has successfully completed her training and thus joined the Duskwatch’s 8th regiment as a Spellblade.   During the final days of Suramar’s rebellion, Vaelene’s regiment has finally switched sides, joining the forces of First Arcanist Thalyssra in the effort of overthrowing the corrupt Grand Magistrix Elisande. Vaelene, personally, took great satisfaction in that. As the 8th Regiment fought alongside the Sin’dorei in the streets of Suramar, tragedy has struck which caused the entire regiment to be decimated save for Vaelene herself, rumours have it that some of the Kaldorei forces that were originally sent to aid the regiment had a hand in its untimely demise, alas, nothing has been officially confirmed. Nevertheless, Vaelene was never the same after this event, robbed of her unit, she would go on to serve on the Duskwatch’s various other regiments but never stayed for long. Those who would have spoken of her at that time would speak of a stiff unwavering Shal’dorei that will not hesitate in fulfilling any directive or order given to her.   After some years, Vaelene has decided that there is a greater calling to her nation and to the future of elfdome as she has heard rumors of an order known as The Highblood Myrmidons that would take incredibly dangerous tasks in the service of Suramar as well as its allied nation, Silvermoon. Without hesitation, Vaelene resigned from her position in the Duskwatch and set to look for the Myrmidons, a task that made her travel all the way to Winterspring. In the snowy northern region of Winterspring, Vaelene would finally find the famed order in the midst of a mission given to them by Silvermoon’s reliquary. Vaelene, proving her worth during that mission, was later officially admitted into the Myrmidons as a Proselyte.   During her days in the Myrmidons, Vaelene was known as an elf, fiercely loyal to the nations of Suramar and Silvermoon and fiercely proud of their mutual Highborne heritage. Like in the Duskwatch, she would accomplish any task that was given to her without hesitation. Indeed the only times where Vaelene seemed to deviate from these characteristics was when the Kaldorei, specifically the Darnassian variant who follow Tyrande, were involved. At those times Vaelene seemed to lose her cool and composure completely, directing her full efforts towards eliminating her savage Lowborn relatives.   After serving the Myrmidons for a while, now holding the rank of a Myrmidon, Vaelene would meet with the Nightborne know as Erena Lunarglade, a fateful encounter that would lead Vaelene towards the path of reigniting her faith in Elune, a faith that she holds to this very day. Vaelene would use her newfound faith to augment her already fierce loyalty to her cause, becoming even more fervent and zealous in her approach.   The next event that would shape Vaelene’s life to come is the betrayal of her once comrade, Aeras Spelltorrent. Vaelene and Aeras never saw eye to eye and often came to verbal blows. Aeras seemed like the only elf capable of causing Vaelene to exhibit such an emotional display within the order. Despite that, Vaelene did not see Aeras Spelltorrent as an enemy, convinced that although his methods have significant deviations, he would eventually work for Silvermoon, if not Suramar as feverently as any other Sin’dorei in their ranks. That all came to an end when Vaelene first heard first hand of actions that were borderline treacherous that were committed by Aeras Spelltorrent, later to be completely betrayed as Aeras Spelltorrent escaped just judgment when he defected to the Alliance, causing several Sin’dorei to get killed in the process.   Little did Vaelene know, however, that Spelltorrent’s treachery was not the last she’d suffer. After Rynore Felbough’s ill-conceived mission during the time of Quel’thalas’ need, Vaelene Moonsong was first appointed Prefect as she was forced to retire, before eventually being named Emissary after her long time friend and commander, the then Emissary, Kalinrea Freedreamer, chose to retire from the position to enjoy quiet life.   Many months have passed since then and Vaelene has already led the Myrmidons through numerous missions before one fateful encounter in the Swamp of Sorrows. During what seemed at first to be an ordinary mission, Vaelene was stunned to discover her former Emissary, Kalinrea Freedreamer, working with the Alliance Mercenary group of The Sunnyglade Ratters. Shocked and enraged at feeling betrayed by the person close to her the most at the time, Vaelene vowed to bring Freedreamer to justice, resulting in the Emissary leading the Horde forces within the Swamp of Sorrows to burn down the then home of the Sunnyglade Ratters in an effort to capture Freedreamer and bring her to justice, alas, the elf evaded her as eventually the Horde forces were pushed back. Today the once close Vaelene Moonsong and Kalinrea Freedreamer are sworn enemies, the former seeks to bring Freedreamer to Justice within Quel’thalas while the latter seeks to pay back Moonsong for destroying her new home.   Today, Vaelene would continue leading the Highblood Myrmidons as their Emissary. She is as zealous and fervent in bringing about the dawn of new age for the allied nations as ever as a paragon of elven order, justice, and wrath.
