Paul
A simple job to clear out rats was meant to be easy. After all, their company was named after exterminating them.
The job took a strange turn. The Sunnyglade Ratters discovered the man behind the sudden rat swarm was a foul-smelling, madman from Moonbrook. He was controlling the swarm with whistles to steal things for him and eventually he hoped to train them into the killing. It wasn’t just any killing though, but the assassination of King Anduin Wrynn.
Amongst his horde, he had tamed giant bear-sized rats to be his generals. One broke free of his control and was put down by the mercenaries.
It was clear the man was delusional and unhinged so it took the Ratters a while to argue about what to do with him. Taking charge, Valerie Danwick killed the old man with her rifle. It wasn’t a popular decision but meant he would not be a problem again.
Whilst searching through his things, an odd whistle was found and when blown by the company, called in one of the giant rats they had fought.
The grotesque and deadly beast was enslaved and taken in by the Ratters to serve as a mount, ‘attack hound’ and “a message to all rats”. He was named ‘Paul’ by Danwick and is often kept in the canals and sewers of Stormwind City, near the Golden Keg. The creature has become a local legend of the Dwarven District as many locals debate if it truly exists or not, only catching glimpse of it when it searches for food.
