The Philosopher's Stone

About

A stone that is known to turn anything to gold by merely touching it. It is also known as the Stone of Midas
The stone was once a legend in Vol'dun, its origin is still unknown but it seems to have been everywhere.
To use the stone one must hold it in a hand that is completely covered. The stone should never have direct contact with your skin! Those who dare to hold it with their bare hands are walking on thin ice...
If you desire coin and to be rich then your fate is sealed. Upon touching the stone your greed will be your own downfall as it would turn you into a solid statue of gold! In its history of uses, the curse has been reversed once. Even with reversing its curse, it doesn't truly fade away.   To truly turn something into gold you must hold the stone in one hand whilst the other hand or limb touches the object you'd like to turn gold. Upon touching the object you must be focused and aim it all into the object. If you feel a spark then it means it worked, the stone will vibrate and send its energies over to the object, turning it gold.   The stone can also begin to turn rather rusty, mess attractive to keep... If this is the case then the stone requires to be recharged from a location where it can safely rest. No one's eyes should watch the stone's rest. The ritual to recharge the stone may often cause some hinders. In past notes, it mentioned it once summoned sand elementals, earth elementals, skeletons,... It seems to awake whatever can be awoken nearby, the notes also mentioned that its guardians tend to be zombie-alike.   Watching it charge may lead to madness and eternal greed.

History

The stone has been through Azeroth already, some knew of it, some didn't. At first, it traveled across the world by accident due to some random travelers. They didn't know they carried such an item! They quickly managed to trade it and sell it around but little did they know that the rusty piece of stone was worth far more!   Through time it made its way into Vol'dun were one of the Sethrak once tried to enable it, reactivate it. In a way, he managed to do so but the stone is known to take its rest and claim its new location with force. The lonely Sethrak stood no chance against the sand elementals it summoned.   And so the stone was long forgotten in its tomb, on top of its altar. It was charging for a long time. One day however a bunch of pirates managed to run into it. The pirates known as the Coppersail Corsairs managed to find it first. They took it with them as the first mate Davy took it for himself. No one truly got annoyed at it but soon its power would get to those who'd use it more frequently...   Throughout the year Davy used it quite often, its powers became too much for the little goblin until it began to lure him into a trap. Obviously, his greed was above it all, he would be the one to turn himself to gold, he would be that idiot! But surprisingly enough the blade of one of the Requiem of Sorrow sliced through his hand which caused his glove to be tattered. Davy had no idea... he grabbed the stone and upon grabbing it his eyes turned golden... Within seconds sparks flew out of the stone as they covered Davy into gold.   At that time Captain Sara Goldsail of the Coppersail Corsairs managed to find a way to reverse it. To reverse it they must head to its altar of the time he was turned to gold. - Vol'dun...   They went back to Vol'dun to reverse the curse, in a way it worked but it caused Davy to run around with one eye of gold. Besides that it nearly failed, thanks to the great sacrifice of Sara Goldsail it actually saved Davy. In the attempt of saving Davy, she died, or at least that's what was last seen and heard of her.   Sara Goldsail died with the stone, no one truly knew what happened afterward but legends say that an army of golden skeletons once came above the sands of Vol'dun.

The war for Midas

The League of Modimus heard of this stone. Of course, it drew attention as rumors quickly ran around about it being real. They quickly dug deeper into it, asking Pandaren, some Sethrak, and even some trolls. Eventually, the Modimi got what they needed, the answers. A book was given with a few notes in them, they would describe how to perform the rituals and what you might expect. Along with the Order of Oronaar they sought to reactivate this stone and use it for good purposes along with locking it away from the wrong hands.   However, the Coppersail Corsairs, the same pirates which once held this stone heard of the rumors... Rumors mention a battle between the golden army of skeletons and against some of the scourge. The battle was legendary but led to the defeat of both leaders! Legend says that the stone served as the heart of the former Captain of the Corsairs, Sara Goldsail. However, these are mere legends! Once it turned to rust so did its army, causing them to lose the battle as well at the end.   The pirates quickly contacted their warlock friends, the Cleft of Shadow as they'd head into Vol'dun to obtain this stone! Though within Vol'dun they quickly noticed that they were not the only ones after it! A bunch of Dwarves and a bunch of Draenei seemed to be around as well!   It took many days after the Corsairs managed to steal the stone beneath the noses of the Dwarves, it all led to the final battle deep within Blackrock.
