"Work with the world as it is, not as if the world is as you wish it was"
Time of the Kaldorei Empire
Born in Zin-Azshari, Lady Nethersong spent her early life between her family estates and Zin-Azshari, studying the arcane and finance. She married and had two sons and a daughter. During the War of the Ancients, her branch of the Nethersong family fought with the Resistance against the Legion, and while she lost her husband, her children survived. Her daughter changed her name and entered Kaldorei society, while she and her eldest son retreated into self-imposed semi-exile, until the Exile of the Highborne, when her second son went with Dath'remar, and her eldest son went into exile without Vashava, who entered exile alone.
For her time in exile, she spent much time studying the mysteries of the arcane, mastering many arts, and perfecting her skills already learned during the time of the Empire. She also took up many hobbies to pass the time, including quilt making, the harp, tree shaping (with magic), mana-wyrm taming, and learning how to infuse mana into consumables, inventing such (inedible) wonders as the mana-potato.
The Dark Portal's opening
When the Dark Portal opened, Lady Nethersong emerged from her exile to find out what the disruption to the ley lines was all about. Upon finding that the rest of the world had not, in fact, exploded in the Sundering, she decided to go and explore this new world. Exile had bored her. Using illusion magic to disguise herself as a Quel'dorei, she put her skills from the days of the Empire to good use, and having hauled up a bunch of gold and gems from her lair, and set up a small bank under the auspices of Undermine.
This grew into the conglomerate that is Nethersong Industries over the coming decades, using both legitimate, and sometimes shady means to expand from banking into other areas. For a long time, her concern was to look after herself, and little else. Her wealth grew, and with war after war, her decision to move into the arms, fuel and agricultural industries resulted in her amassing more and more wealth.
When the Highborne came out of exile during the Cataclysm, she dropped her illusion, and publicly took control of her own company. Her first hire as the 'new' owner was her own great-great-grandson, who had recently left Silvermoon after Garrosh had become Warchief. Over time, he impressed her with his intelligence and cunning, and so she made him her right-hand man and heir. From the Cataclysm to the War of the Thorns, Vashava oversaw an unprecedented period of growth, with the Horde-Alliance War, then the Legion invasion, and the rebuilding after both fuelling massive profits for her company.
Over the years, Vashava has backed various financial and political ventures. But, with the Burning of Teldrassil, Vashava has stepped back from her company to take the fight to the foe directly. In such dark times, all Kaldorei had to serve together. She was one of the many who followed Tyrande and joined the Army of the Black Moon, serving at Darkshore and elsewhere.
She eventually joined the
Dirge of Teldrassil and has risen to the rank of Harbinger, the day-to-day commander of the unit. The Dirge evolved during her time as Harbinger from being a paramilitary unit, into being a formal part of the Army of the Black Moon, focusing on subterfuge and counter-subterfuge activities. She was eventually laid low by a nefarious necrotic poison and has since retired from command.
